Titans is a very ordinary name and everyone is still a bit searly (sic) about it … what a clown … one day, one precious day, the clouds will part and the sun will shine through and we will be searle-less … the Dolphins were ok but still had a US feel to it, imho. I preferred Gold Coast Barracudas and the cheer squad should be the Clams.

Dogs are such cool animals. Shame that the only dog mascot we have is such an ugly one. Give me the Dingoes and the Kelpies. Cattledog!!

Couldn't get more North Queensland than the name Crushers. It should have been NQ Crushers, with our large sugar cane growing areas.

Up north when the when the cane is being harvested and the mills are running its known as "Crushing Season". Ironically in later years this really impacted on regional towns ability to field a footy team during the season.

Whenever people ask me what team I support I always say North Queensland, never the Cowboys.

Twizzle, you forgot to add Raiders to your list, despite the "spin" about them being named after a team raiding Sydney they were clearly named after the Oakland Raiders, who were winning Superbowls at the time of Canberra's inception.

End of day it is all about branding and what will appeal in merchandise and to kids. Nice if there is a local connection but most kids don't care about that, they care if it is a cool logo, mascot, name etc.

Still disappointed we dropped Reds as it was unique (before union stole it at least), was Australiana and locally relevant. I guess Pirates will be massively popular with the kids and WA can lay claim to Australia's only official Pirate.

Pretty sure Queensland had been unofficially known as the Reds for a while before the Western Reds started...

Having met and corresponded with a guy from the Southhampton Spitfires (playing in Southern England) during the RLWC , I think a team named after Australia's fighting jet - The Wirraway - would be a nice moniker for some team.

This is one of my pet hates.

Broncos
Cowboys
Steelers
Storm
Crushers
Knights
Titans

Completely unAustralian and the NRL showing complete lack of originality.

Crushers un Australian? Where is most of the sugar cane crushed? QLD.
Storm is a weather system.
Knights are English (knights in shining armour)
Steelers were a team in an Australian steel producing city.

Yeah I'm totally against all the seppo influences so p1ss them off. I've always thought North Queensland Stockmen had a better ring to it then cowboys, but then again would prob be more suited to a team from Central QLD maybe

I absolutely agree with you but the other codes have mostly already snapped up the best local mascots. Bushrangers should be a contender for a future team where it is relevant to the region.

Yeah I'm a big fan of the name Bushrangers and as someone mentioned earlier, Warrigals is also a winner. A bit of Australiana! A lot of the bush footy clubs have some good names

My god we need a new logo though, the current one needs a major overhaul IMO.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't the NQ Cowboys going to be called the Crocodiles but it got kyboshed and then the Townsville basketball team took it on anyway.

I like Redbacks too. Always wanted to see a Central Coast Bluetongues team [in blue and green like the ice hockey team in Brissy/GC].

Brumbies would have been better than Broncos, IMO. Parramatta should have been the Rams [with the wool industry being started in the area]. That said, the Eel is now synonymous with Para and sounds a million times better than Patriots which they thought about changing to back in late 90's, early 00's.

Don't mind Stingrays. Sharks could move to Adelaide and become the (Great) Southern Bite [think the ABL has it now though]. That said, I wouldn't mind seeing an Adelaide Ravens.

Expansion team - Brisbane Battlers/Buckaroos.
Central Qld Wranglers/Stampeders/Stockmen [keeps that Cowboys/Broncos them running…rem…]

If Annandale were still about, I'd have 'em called the Annandale Shearers.
