Have you been to Argentina? I've spent a lot of time there and no one gives a shit, don't read the hype.

The Japanese team is a joke, they are propped up by foreigners

So let me get this straight, A self proclaimed Rugby hater claims "nobody gives a shit" about Rugby in Argentina, yet people who actually are from Argentina with no agenda, unlike you, think you don;t know what you are talking about.

70% Japanese, and you consider the team a "joke"... yet you go on about the success of Samoa who had only 3 players born in Samoa in their world cup final team. You're nothing but a hypocrite.

Keep shifting the goal posts when you’ve been shown to be wrong

the king of Tonga literally was in the crowd at Auckland to watch his team at the World Cup

you don’t see the king of England wanting to watch rugby league games do you
the future Queen was there and is patron of the RFL,
did anyone know he was the king of tonga? lol

When queen elizabeth met Wally Lewis for the second time she admitted to him she didn’t know anything much about rugby league

her grandsons were regulars at twickers

Australia and New Zealand are the two major southern hemesphere nations that I'm talking about obviously.

14/23 impressive mate, that's almost a full team of Japanese out of a whole squad - lol. Soon we might actually be able to call them Japan. It is joke mate and it's exactly what you criticise international RL teams of.
It's very impressive compared to the 3 Samoans in Samoa's squad at the RLWC!

Since we're talking about jokes, how about the single Tongan in Tonga's RLWC squad. Here's the real kicker, all those Japanese RU players learnt the game in Japan, played their junior footy in Japan, were developed into pros in Japan, and play professionally in Japan. Aside from the big nations (AUS, NZ, ENG, FR, PNG), how many of the major RL nations at the last RLWC could say that? Maybe Wales!

With the exception of the afore mentioned big nations and Fiji (kudos to Fiji BTW), how many of the nations that were serious competitors at the last RLWC could claim to have a similar amount of home grown players?

I mean seriously, your hypocrisy is rank.

The Tongan and Samoan RL teams are filled with Tongans and Samoans, the culture and blood runs through them and if you'd like to debate the point, then take it up with Junior Paolo or Taumalolo face-to-face. Yes, of course they weren't born there but hey are Tongan and Samoan, parents are, grandparents are, great grand parents are.

I'll tell you one thing though... Tongan's, Aussies, Kiwis, South Africans and Koreans aren't Japanese that's for sure.

Yes, mate. Lived in Argentina for two years in an Argentinian household. I know a think or two about what the people there enjoy. Have you been to Argentina?

Again... Tongans, Kiwis, Aussies and South Africans are not Japanese. It's not a difficult concept to grasp.

So much misinformation from the union trolls in this thread.
Questioning the legitimacy of international RL when they’ve got Koroibete and Vunivalu running around for the wallabies

Guess you missed all the videos of the Samoan and Tongan teams visiting and getting a street parade
Don't bother mate, it is too hard for them to tell the obvious difference between a Tongan claiming to be Japanese and an Aussie or Kiwi born Tongan proudly representing Tonga on behalf of his Tongan born parents and Tongan born grandparents.

Bloody hell, the horseshoe theory's alive and well I see. Well that or you've been hanging out with Ross May...

I'd happily say to Paulo and Taumalolo's faces that they're about as Samoan and Tongan respectively as Anthony Albanese is Italian or Shane Warne was a German. They were both born in NZ, raised in NZ and Australia respectively, went through school in NZ and AUS respectively, learnt the cultural norms of NZ and AUS respectively, learnt their sport and profession in NZ and AUS respectively, etc, etc, and no amount of soft bigotry of low expectations or blood and soil BS can change that.

Had they been born and raised in Samoa and Tonga their lives would have turned out completely differently, to the point that they'd effectively be completely different people in most respects. It's highly unlikely that they would have ever become professional RL players as a singular example.

The only reason that you're daring to suggest that they aren't Kiwis/Australian in this case, where you'd happily accept that both Albo, Warne, or the rest of roughly 50% of people in our country whom were either born overseas themselves or have at least one parent born overseas (god knows what the % would be with at least one grandparent), are Australians, is because of their race. In other words they don't present as the stereotype of an Australian (or Kiwi as the case may be) that you have in your head, where as Albo, Warney, etc, do, and I find that extremely f**king gross frankly.

But let's not allow your, interesting, ideas about race and ethnicity distract from the fact that your holding international RL to much lower standard than you hold international RU, and that that is blatant hypocrisy.

Anecdotes mean zip. But since you stick to yours I linked the anecdotes of half a dozen actual Argentinians. How long ago were you there? Did you travel the entire country? meet everyone?
You hate rugby, we get it. But when actual Argentinians who don't have an agenda, unlike you, are saying the opposite to you it kinda shows you're full of shit.

So a Kiwi who moves to Japan as a teenager, learns the language, marries a local, gains citizenship is not Japanese?
Or a "korean" born of a Japanese mother who moves back to Japan when the kid is two and grows up in Japan is not Japanese?
Yet a Kiwi born and raised in NZ who has a Samoan grandparent is Samoan and an Aussie born and raised in Aus who has a tongan grandparent is Tongan???? You aren't even hiding your hypocrisy now. Pathetic

Wow. This guy is from 1950's. No wonder he hates every single change the game makes

And, correct... Kiwis are not Japanese. Now you are starting to get it.

No one is claiming that the Tongans and Samoan RL players were born on the islands, but yes when your entire ancestry is Tongan or Samoan, you are Tongan or Samoan. A better comparison would be an Aussie born Japanese or something, but that's not what is happening with the joke of a team representing Japan.

I didn't say that the Tongans and Samoans aren't also Aussie / Kiwi. They are, absolutely. Their ancestry and culture are completely Tongan / Samoan though and I'm not really sure how you can deny it. Very different to Kiwis, Tongans, South Africans and Aussies pretending to be Japanese.

From your posts on here you seem like a smart guy, this isn't hard to grasp mate.

It's all irrelevant though. Each player qualifies for the team they're playing for, that's all that matters.

Is a Samoan heritage player who has never been to Samoa (remembering Samoa is the nation state he is representing, he's not representing the culture of Samoa) really more "Samoan" than Michael Leitch is "Japanese", a guy who has lived more than half his life in Japan, speaks fluent Japanese, and has Japanese children?

No i haven't been to Argentina, which is why i linked people who were actually born, raised and live there. So they might have a touch more knowledge than you.

According to the the Japanese Government Michael Leitch IS Japanese. They granted him citizenship despite yout hypocritical failings.
Koo Ji-won IS Japanese despite being born in Korea. You are so full of shit.
