The reason they killed them is because transfer fees are pretty much illegal in Australia.

You'd either need to find a loophole to bring them back in a form unique to the Australian market, or hope that nobody challenges it and that the government turns a blind eye like they do with AFL's draft (drafts are also legally ambiguous in Australia).

No the reason they killed it was because of the SL war. Up until then it was fine. How is it illegal in Australia when the fees are being paid outside of it? It is no different to buying out a contract.

Nzru poses a record loss

maybe they have to sell off more silverware to private equity to stay afloat

Awww you seem upset. Was it the,
- increase of revenue from 188 to 270 million? an increase of about 44%
- That TV money is less than 50% of income
- The staging of the Womans world cup, that had games watched by 25%+ of the NZ population
- That they still managed near 100 million in reserves?
- or that the loss came under what was expected when they put aside 56.2 Million in cash to cover the loss?

They sold a 5% stake in a new company allowing a 44% increase in revenue... seems like a decent investment.

We will find out out in the coming years, however there hasn't been anything near a 44% increase since professionalism.... ever... and that was the primary reason for selling the stake.... could just be a coincidence of course...

The AFL draft is only a thing because no player is willing to contest it in court. I have never been a fan of the draft. But I guess if you are a kid trying to make it you aren’t going to take the game to court

Don’t worry when the money runs out they will just sell up more equity in the all blacks

selling future revenue in perpetuity to cover current losses seems like a great business model

Awwwww you are upset.... turns out they know more about economics than you do.. but then so does a brain damaged, Syphilis filled rat.

Yes, NZRU is BOOMING !!! Some interesting comments below the video, seems kiwis are as excited about Super Rugby as we are ... not very much.

This could explain why Super Rugby never post crowd numbers.

The best part of the video is when he says, the Warriors are playing today so everyone will be at thier game :D
