Loads of grounds in the South Island

didn’t have to kick someone off their ground

Crusaders shared the ground with the centerbuy rl but forced them to move two grand finals

so they could’ve shared a ground elsewhere with a union team
It’s an apples and oranges situation, one is a professional team vs local club sport.
It’d be the Equivalent of a local club Rugby team getting precedence to use a Ground over the Broncos. It’s just logical to give precedence to the professional sports team bringing in crowds vs a local club team that’d be lucky to have more than a couple of hundred people likely getting in for free.
If it was a super Rugby team kicking out an NRL team then by all means but it’s a very different situation.

Natural disaster is a bit of extenuating circumstances. The state all grounds were in meant the city had to consolidate their grounds and focus on the best option to make one fit for use, remember significant work was needed. It’s not like the Crusaders rocked up one day and took the ground they were enviously eyeing up from the poor of local league club

Leases don’t have natural disaster clauses

if there’s an earthquake in my street and my rich neighbours house gets destroyed but my house doesn’t I’m not obligated to let him move in cause he’s richer

indeed it looks like the Canterbury rugby league let them in and then they werent allowed to play their grand finals when it suits due to impact on rugby union games. (I’m shocked !)

the warriors played games for 2 years away from home and came back stronger than ever. The crusaders could’ve done the same

Nz2 should be christchurch and play a few games in the South Island and ignore Wellington

The blues and the crusaders are the two strongest union side and the warriors have already surpassed the blues so a South Island side directly competing with the strongest union side is the way to go as it’s their last remaining strong market which we have penetrated the least

I don't think a head to head, us vs them is what it's about.
I think it would be very easy for the people of Christchurch to follow both! Like 2 teams and a whole weekend..!
There's no need for people to abandon the Crusaders but obviously with a better product/ comp with more talent it's pretty obvious which will get the most attention.

Rugby league has already penetrated Christchurch and the South Island more than people think! I haven't seen a Crusaders jerseys here but I have seen plenty of Warriors jerseys!!
Every conversation I've had here is that they like both! But every time they say they prefer League! That's the reality here..!

Give them a f**king team!
You're looking at probably 2 million instant dedicated fans!
That's legitimately where it sits here!

A second NZ team would be the biggest 1 team boom since the Broncos!
Seriously!
If the NRL miss this... f**k me.
Like missing out on Apple shares!

Team 18 has to be NZ .

Wowser, you just keep digging and digging. Unlike you the CRL aren't Karmichael Hunt's and have empathy for their fellow citizens so entered into a sub-leasing agreement with the council so that professional sport can be played in the region.

Thankfully for the citizens of Chch you and your buddy tito weren't in charge so they could actually watch some pro sport (including an NRL game) and live entertainment in the last decade.

Obviously just one person's opinion, but I thought this had some interesting point regarding the Pacific, not directly related to NZ..but certainly points resonate and seem to make sense in regards to NZ also.

In union the all blacks and also wallabies try and steal the best players

in league it’s just about the opposite. Whilst the all blacks get the best islanders players in union those nations will always be held back

This talk about access to ground is hilarious

Les catalans we’re kicked out of the council owned ground the Aimee giral stadium because usap union side didn’t want to share

It's ok for Union not to give a f**k about RL though. It's just us that have to have empathy for them
