The CRL aren’t going back, they’ve got a new permanent home down the road. The stadium as it is is too big for them anyway. I’m not sure what’s happening to Addington now. The stands were only intended to be temporary and may be at the end of their design life. Would be good to find out if anyone actually knows.
Perhaps one of the stands could be moved to the new facility.

which stadium are you referring to now, the pre-earthquake one?
Yeh, pre quake what was crl using the stadium for?

All Blacks into the RWC semis by knocking out the favourites, Ireland. Seems NZ RU isn’t on life support quite yet.

So assuming they win this year what do they do for the next four years to keep people interested ?
The peoples favourite coach is coming in with a big changeover in players (lots of retirements) so there will definitely be interest.

Win or lose that problem doesn’t change. But people always prefer to back winners.
Seems like union needs a combination of winning all blacks and losing warriors to remain strong in nz

it will be interesting to see if the warriors Maintain their form and the sport keep growing or if it’s just a flash in the pan and then we see how loyal the new fans are

Yeah the 4 yearly post RWC exodus to Japan and Europe tends to take care of that factor in NZ.
gonna be kinda funny if Foster goes out with a RWC next to his name though, his tenure will get reassessed pretty quickly

Largely that’s true though I think the winning Warriors part is far more important.

Ignoring stuff like which sport is taking over you would hope the core base for rugby league has risen with or without the warriors making the top four again

that people like the team and the experience than just the winning bc you can’t win all the time unless you are Penrith

My bad, it seemed like you were mocking NZ for having heritage players. Mea culpa.
No, Kiwis are looking strong mate, even considering the defections in recent years. I can't wait for the Aus v NZ Pacific Championship match and thrn hopefully a rematch in the final a week later.

Kiwis will have three matches in a row too which will help with momentum

Which is why NZ needs a second pro club if league is ever going to seriously challenge union, having it largely tied to the Warriors makes the sport very volatile unless they manage to achieve Panthers/Storm/Broncos level consistency.

Critical the Warriors back it up for another year or 2 at least. Pull another 2012 and a chunk of the bandwagoners will drop off, even the die hard day oners support was at an all time low before this season.

Gus Gould said on that 6 tackle podcast recently , that there should be another Auckland team within ten years … thought that was interesting…

I would have thought NZ 2 should be elsewhere … but is Auckland becoming “Brisbane like” that games should be played there every week?

I wouldn’t say the crowds are quite there now , although that’s difficult to tell in a 25k stadium that is becoming regularly sold out … but the pathways in that North NZ region could do with another team …

The dude gets paid by the sound bite.
Wouldn't read into anything that he says.
