New Zealand 2 will deal a massive blow to NZ rugby

Yeah, and it would be crazy for the NRL to not take the opportunity NOW to make a play for NZ with a 2nd team here.
If the Warriors maintain strong support across NZ over the next 5 years then the ARLC will consider NZ2 for the 19th licence. That's assuming V'landys and Albo get a written contract in place for a PNG team.

V'landys won't even be around in 5 years, let alone 2030.

It's f**king laughable that we try to claim that we are the biggest sport in Australia and yet our boss is a part timer

People follow trends to fit in is what I'm saying . I actually enjoy the game but every piece of commentary during the game and after and in every news paper you'll find an article dedicated to! Not just mentioned.. dedicated to how boring Rugby has become! Those same people will tell you that the NRL grand final was epic!
So turn on the tv , buy a f**king news paper, look out the window! Maybe talk to someone outside of your little eco chamber!
I'm here , I like to talk league.. once I say that people say they actually prefer League without me asking.
It's probably risky to say perhaps and they feel comfortable telling an Australian- let's call it the silent majority.
Mate, the trend following is with the Warriors not the rugby. Remember when your mate Wb and Warriors CEO Cam George (just learnt he was Australian today which puts some of his utterances in perspective) claimed the semi final will easily outrate the ABs that day. It didn't get close and it was in prime time vs the early morning. So who are the silent majority?

Of course people are going to talk league with you if you mention you're a fan, they'll talk soccer with you if you were a fan too. There's probably enough people in NZ who have lived in the AFL states that you'd find a bunch who would talk AFL with you if you were a fan.

You still haven't mentioned why you're in NZ and why you're moving to Dunedin? Work? Relationship? It's always interesting when an Aussie goes that way as the majority of the movement is the other way.

So it’s the same as last week then, the sky won’t fall in
I mean winning the World Cup final was supposed to be the big thing to save the decline in rugby union in nz

now they have to wait four more years of meaningless super rugby vs the warriors

Winning the WC was never expected to save the decline in union here. The issues are far more fundamental. A good game of union is a great watch – the QF v Ireland being a good example – but because of the convoluted laws, and the confusing/inconsistent officiating, a good game is few and far between. Fixing that is what’s needed to save the game.

Lucky for those of us who enjoy both codes, we can just keep switching channels until they do.

Yeh I’m sure they will get their rules sorted eventually

Nailed it. A World Cup win would’ve been a band aid- would’ve kicked things up for union in Nz for a year if that.

After the all blacks lost the World Cup they really need a strong warriors for national pride
I get no national pride from the Warriors, who I remind you also lost their big match. They're a club team. Sadly, the Kiwis didn't give me any national pride last week either but hopefully they can redress that on Saturday.

Also, why do you continue to make so much stuff up? The ABs weren't even supposed to make the final let alone win and save rugby.

I look at it the opposite way. When the Wahs are playing well, everyone jumps on the bandwagon and the game is booming. It's when they aren't doing well is when you want a second team because you have more of a chance of at least one of them doing well at any one time to keep the momentum of the game going. It also kicks the Warriors in the arse to help them reach their potential through competition.

Ala broncos vs dolphins this season..
This is exactly what i was saying a few months back, why split the base when the wahs are doing so well, you do it when they aren't, drive that wedge between the hardcore fans and the bandwagoners introduce a new team and see that transition

Christchurch is probably the best option for NZ2. North Island vs South Island.
