State of Origin fixtures and a selection of premium NRL matches be available on free-to-air TV in New Zealand for the first time as a part of a new broadcast rights deal between the ARL Commission and Sky New Zealand.

so in practice what happens is that all games are live on Sky Sport (pay tv) and selected matches are screened on a delay on Sky Open (FTA)

That is why the ANZAC game was on FTA at 11pm - it was a delayed telecast from the 9:30pm NZT (7:30pm AEST) live game.

in the past the Anzac Day game was held at 11 pm Auckland time which isn’t really a great time slot

we’ll see how it pans out on future years
