Thats is the big issue, even with cap dispensation are clubs really so flushed with cash they are willing or able to drop $1mill a year on an untested union player? Most of them barely made that in profit last year.
I applaud the goal, increasing the player pool, but not sure its the big names in union that will be the targets. Probably more the Will Warbricks of the world who a club can bring on without any risk to cap pressure to see how they go.

was 11.4mill euros but being dropped for 2024 to 10 million euro, which is roughly that
english union cap is 5.9mill euros + 2 marquee players

NRl woudl sit in the middle of those two comps with a cap of around 7.1million euros.
Tv deal worth 115 million euro or 192 million Aussie pa

and with lower crowds

vichies will he broke on those numbers

That’s in $US you’d be an idiot to pay north of $1m AU or an untested league player
Top nrl player is on 1.4 million base salary

with rep payments you can add 100 k plus

then sponsorship

and the salary cap will be going up by a lot in a few years

the highest paid rugby players in the world will be in nrl

Nrl pays each club five million over the cap

the cap is around 12.5 million now

it could easily be 17 million

plus the Arlc is keeping back 50 million pa to invest in property

unlike union we are growing an investing sustainably paying wages we can easily afford

Not likely, owned by mega rich people, imagine if every Australian rugby union club was owned by a twiggy forest. Thats French top 14.

English clubs were owned by rich people too then they got bored

clubs running at millions of pounds loss a year is crazy

the reality is rugby union can’t really match our firepower
we are talking mega rich, theres a big difference between millionaires and billionaires.
Clearly they have a bigger salary cap by quite a margin, so yes they can, and then some.

It’s already happening

the drain of kiwi juniors to league has meant the standard of all blacks has fallen dramatically and now they are beatable
I think its more the case of other countries developing more talented players and getting stronger than the all blacks becoming weaker due to a player drain to the NRL.

Forget p#ssing millions up the wall on unproven kiwi and Aussie union players and instead get the cheque book out and raid these talented wallabies and all blacks union schoolboys sides.

especially the all blacks #7. He’s built for RL and has NRL superstar written all over him.
