My original comment was now the Anzac Day game is on a More fan friendly time in nz and should be on fta in nz

isn’t really rocket surgery is it ?
But that’s not saying it WILL be. If it’s on earlier Sky probably figure they can still get away with putting a delayed replay on FTA if it’s not on too late to get numbers.

The fact it’s being held in mz and in a fan friendly time was the real point which I don’t know why people are missing it

and if it becomes a marquee game then why wouldn’t it be shown on free to air

because it’s NZ and there’s no anti siphoning laws there, and even premier sports events are often live on pay tv only, and delayed on FTA. It’s a main driver for subscriptions for sky and won’t change unless they’re contractually obliged to put live games on FTA.

Hey SpaceMonkey how strange as I'm watching on YouTube old British minor hits from the early 1980s and this tune came on about 10 minutes ago and then I saw your post on notification.

Why do you guys talk about anti siphoning laws lmao

I’m talking about the nrl or sky getting this done because this becomes a marquee game like the roosters vs dragons game here which used to be exclusively shown on fox and then went to fta as it became so popular

I’m using what happened In australia as a benchmark lol

Lol imagine telling people from NZ how it works in NZ. It'd be like someone from Perth telling people how things work in Sydney.

Because you’re using Australia as a benchmark… and part of the reason things happen the way they do it Australia is… anti siphoning laws

It wasn’t on the anti siphoning laws in Australia

when it grew nine wanted a part of it

this thing could be massive in New Zealand

it’s untapped

Don’t forget people from Sydney telling us how Cairns being Cowboys’ territory is exactly the same as Canberra being Bulldogs’ or Roosters’ territory.

Yehp the Cairns mayor trying to latch on the PNG bid means the whole of Cairns isn’t Cowboys country any more.
Paying lip service to an area doesn’t make it a real cowboys country

it’s not the idea of Sydney people to put a png team in cairns

Pretty sure Cowboys main sponsor is made up of dealerships including Cairns. Pretty sure Cowboys do good merch and membership sales in Cairns. But yeh the 'NQ' Cowboys arent relevant to Cairns at all lol

if the mayor of cairns had shut his mouth png would’ve been based in Northern Territory as originally planned

he’s the one that opened the door

PNG being based there isn’t going to change it being full of Cowboys fans and I doubt they’ll take over the pathways either.

It is mostly actually, Cairns was never part of the PNG bid and still isn’t officially they’ve just said they are open to options. The mayor proposed it and the Sydney media and NRL have gone to town on the idea, even though other options make far more sense for a FIFO option.

So it wasn’t a Sydney idea and the mayor of cairns is the one who opened the door lol
