Any club will have scouts, but it’s not just as simple as finding the talented youngsters. You’ve got to convince them and their families to uproot their lives, fly to a new country and establish themselves in pursuit of a RL career which more often than not doesn’t turn out.

My suggestion allows those talented individuals to remain in their communities with minimal disruption to their lives and their families lives on their journey to becoming a professional athlete.
Ideally the NZ comp would be of a quality that they wouldnt need to be moving over until over 18 and likely nearer 20. What happens now in Qlnd cup for clubs like Melbourne.

National reserve grade etc

play the best Aussie juniors each week

needs nz2 for those pathways warriors isn’t enough

kiwi juniors will always be influenced by union so that’s a negative

then not playing good standard each week is another negative

playing the best Aussies from as young as possible is the key

Surely if the game invested and had 8 Qlnd cup quality clubs in NZ feeding directly to 8 NRL partnerships that would yield more players than having two NRL clubs with a reserve grade and SG Ball side only?

The question is could NZ develop 8 Qlnd cup quality clubs and would the NRL have the money and will to support it?

Waste of money

nz2 is the way

under 16 to under 23 all playing for nz2 against the other nrl sides feeding into national reserve grade.

barter card cup was a huge failure

even union struggles with the cost of such a system

" The surge in growth was underlined this week by the results of Google’s ‘Year in Search’ which revealed the One New Zealand Warriors outranked the All Blacks as the top most-searched sporting team in 2023."
Wow stunning in a World Cup year

The problem with that claim is All Blacks isn't the main search term for the team. 'NZ National Rugby Union team' is, and it was searched significantly more than All Blacks.
That doesn't make any sense.
Why would kiwis search that long winded sentence instead of All blacks?
Like instead of Warriors.. they search " NZ professional Rugby league team "

Makes zero sense, I'm calling bullshit.

That only generates places for 40 or so players at those age groups. That’s still a lot of nz talent that doesn’t have pathway or opportunity to develop.

Did you look at the report posted? Clearly when you add all black and national union team searches together it’s massively more than warriors. Lies, damn lies and statistics lol

There’s generating nrl players and theres auskick numbers which produce nothing

you want the nrl to spend millions on the latter

I've been in NZ over 4 months and never once have I herd the All blacks referenced as " NZ national Rugby Union team "
Never once, not ever, that's in rooms full of people watching WC games involving the " NZ national Rugby Union team ".. watching the full broadcast on national TV , the post game shows ,the radio...
Never heard it!

Yet magically they go home and overwhelming search... the most reaches! " NZ national Rugby Union team "
Zero chance.

I don't know how or at what level this statistic was formed but I 100% guarantee that it's false.

Do a search yourself, you'll find 10 articles with 1 being Warriors and 2 being All Blacks. Not only is "NZ national Rugby Union team " not first, there's no mention of it whatsoever.

Is bs, likely combinations of searches for Union in NZ.
Complete Union fudging bs.

I'm sure you'll side with them, or AFL or even f**king baseball! So long as it discredits any candidate other than Perth or Hull 3.
You Muppet.
