Madrid, Singapore, dubai, LA, HK, Perth, truly great cities of the world. No shthole logan on the tour I see lol
Perth isn't a "great city".

I notice there's no Perth team in the Queensland Cup. There's one in Logan.

Perth is so poor and backwards it cannot afford to compete in the Queensland Cup.

NSW government officials will meet with senior World Rugby officials this week to discuss an extension of Sydney as host of the Australian leg of the World Sevens Series, but Queensland and South Australia are circling to take the tournament interstate.

Dumb merkin

The event's in Perth.

If Brisbane or Sydney really wanted it then they would have gotten it.

Playing Union sevens would probably be the best option if free travel is your motivator! Olympics, cmwealth games if they happen again, world sevens circuit: Dubai, Madrid, HK, LA, Cape Town, Vancouver, Singapore, Perth,

I reckon thats the best format of either code to play and see the world!
It would be the best way to see the world if you want your trip paid for. A little bit of sight seeing along with work.
Minimum Australian 7's players get is 44k, experienced players get between 70-105k.
Looks like they need someone to pay for their trips.
I'm sure NRL players can see the world on their own terms in their holiday breaks, and be able to afford it quite easily.

Money talks, not our fault we are so rich in the West lol
So how come Perth's Lord Mayor is saddling up with Gold Coast's mayor to hold the unappealing events of the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Perth while Gold Coast gets the premium events, like swimming?

If Perth is so rich then it would be able to hold the Commonwealth Games on its own.

Brisbane has a more important event coming to town. It's called the Olympics. Something Perth will never have in our lifetime.

You dont understand the difference between a city council and the state govt? lol
The state govt has said they arent interested. For good reason. If it wanted to, with 6 years of multi Billion $ surpluses, it could do so very easily. Both Qlnd and WA benefit enormously from mining and the surpluses it creates.
Yeh everyone seems so happy about that in Brisbane lol

This is a bloody awful thread to have walked in on 😂 Sometimes I’m not sure who is the antagonist and who is the biter.

All this bollocks on a NZII thread. Bugger me.

On the NZ front, does anyone know of the pathways setup for RL in NZ? I think a few targeted kids come to Aus when they are around 16 when aligning themselves with NRL clubs.

I wonder if an elite summer youth league managed by the NRL could be established as a performance pathway opportunity for players which don’t want to compromise or choose between league and union? I can’t imagine it would be a massively expensive venture. Regional rep teams for 16s and 18s playing in the summer, recruiting the best league and union juniors to participate in say a 12 week training and competition camp.

The honest truth of the matter is, there are at least three very strong markets for the NRL to target an immediate presence in and to fulfil that demand will require a swift influx of talented rugby league players. The only country really within the NRLs influence to come close to satisfying that need is NZ.

Does it?

I hope that you’re right but players earning $3 million per annum in the short term is a pretty wild prediction
he's dreaming. The current cap is locked in until 2028. IF the NRl gets a decent tv deal increase from 2028 the cap is likely to go up $2mill a club at best. Spread over 36 players that wont see $3mill contracts. Maybe by 2040 lol.

It seems that increasingly NRL clubs are aligning with different regions of NZ to provide more direct pathways. Its kind of a shame there isnt a better quality NZ comp with each club aligned to an NRL club similar to Qlnd cup. That would provide even stronger pathways and development opportunities.

Any club worth its salt will have scouts in NZ looking at the best 15-18 year old League and Union players already.
