It’s not an and or, perth and nz2 will likely be in if we go to 20 Clubs.
The business case will need to stack up.

The guy leading the strategy for the govt reckons we could get 20k players in WA if done right. Even if we only got back to 1995 level that’s still a major increase in participation for the game.[
I honestly don't see the rush for Perth to have a team. It won't lead to an explosion in playing numbers. Nor will it add many viewers to the game.
My biggest concern with Perth is it will rely on sustained on field success to carve out a niche in a hostile market.
We still don't know how much support the Storm will have when they go on a losing run. Things could turn sour for the Storm when Bellamy retires. I estimate he'll be retired by the next TV deal. The last thing we want to do is add a team in Perth around the time Bellamy retires.
You dont say, pete likes what Rogers selling clearly. The business case will need to stack up.
What's he basing his prediction on?The guy leading the strategy for the govt reckons we could get 20k players in WA if done right. Even if we only got back to 1995 level that’s still a major increase in participation for the game.
there’s much to like about perth and nz2 and hopefully both are in before 2032.

No one has been announced as the 18th club yet.Not enough to announce Perth as the 18th team.
What's your take on the WA Premier using the media to get the ARLC to pay attention to the Perth bid?
I saw it as a sign of desperation.
You’d have to ask him. What's he basing his prediction on?
The ARLC isn't going to invest heavily in Perth.
It's a baseless prediction. There's no way his report can be taken seriously. You’d have to ask him.

When? I havent seen roger cook talk about it since he was directly asked a few months ago.
See this is actually sensible. Union in. NZ I’d like Union in Canberra, in many ways it’s better for league of both codes thrive- juniors and fans will love between the two anyway.

Hah that was over a year ago you gronk when he was asked during an interview on perth Nrl support.
Roger Cook spoke a whole lot of shit in this press conference. His main point for adding a team in Perth is to make the NRL "national".
Correct. And that's the way it should be done.Yep good call. I genuinely believe here in NZ, there's room for both codes to grow not by taking each other's fans but by sharing them.
There's the usual hard core element that hates the other code and always will, but there's a much much bigger group that will happily watch and support both if given the opportunity and incentive. By that I mean things like double headers, combined fan days, complementary TV scheduling etc.
NZ's a small market and there's more than just the footy codes competing for people's limited attention spans.
Super rugby is dieing yet somehow union in nz will be immune to thisCorrect. And that's the way it should be done.
And those 2 or 3 NZ NRL teams will be playing in a 20 (or more) team competition attracting a lot more media attention than now.
Meanwhile, thosefivemaybe four NZ Super Rugby teams will be playing against5 4 32 Australian Super Rugby teams, as well as teams fromJapan, Argentina, Fiji, Moana Pasifika,Easter Island, with the games aired in Australia on9 Gem Stan SBS SBS World Watchsome podcast tothousandsdozens of fans.

whatever is left of professional union in nz it will be competing against an nrl salary cap which will be over 20 million and growing all the time
Npc competing with the nrl?Not immune to it but not wholly dependent on it either. The majority of NZRs sponsorship income is derived from the All Blacks brand value, not SR. All of NZRs match day income is from tests (SR gates go back to the franchises) and a large chunk of the TV income is specifically for tests as well, both locally and offshore.
I’m not saying the death of SR wouldn’t hurt NZ rugby, it would. It would hurt badly. But it wouldn’t be terminal. And there’d be alternatives found before it became terminal.
In fact many local pundits already want SR axed in favour of a fully professional NPC. I personally disagree, but the success of SR NZ during covid showed the idea is workable, even if only as an interim solution. RA would be in a far more difficult situation though.
You're the most biased commentator on this forum. There’s no way you can be taken seriously, yet here you are

No. NZR doesn’t even compete with NRL in revenue terms.Npc competing with the nrl?
People need to think of the salary cap as basically our GDP.Super rugby is dieing yet somehow union in nz will be immune to this

all blacks will all play their domestic rugby overseasNo. NZR doesn’t even compete with NRL in revenue terms.
My point was that rugby in NZ is not wholly dependent on SR to generate income and survive.
If SR dies, the code won’t die because NPC or something else will replace it, and the All Blacks - who generate most of NZRs income - will still play test matches.
