The Queensland Cup could be expanded into a national second division to serve the same purpose across Australia. But alas, the idiots running our game are willing to kill the Queensland Cup go make a few hundred imbeciles from Sydney happy. It will make it extremely difficult for juniors from rural Queensland to forge a pathway to the NRL. It's the same problem New Zealanders not based in Auckland have experienced for 20 years.

I'm disillusioned with our game because it has lost its way since the ARLC was formed. The Queensland Cup has been treated like an afterthought and moved down the ladder over the last decade. The weekly televised game was shifted around to accommodate the Sunday NRL game. Now it's not on FTA TV at all and only accessible via a streaming service. The decision to bring back three grades on game day will kill it off altogether. When that happens my passion for the game will nosedive. The most frustrating thing is our game could and should be so much bigger, popular and richer than it is, but never will be due to self-interest from the NRL clubs.

The Queensland Cup provides a pathway for players in Cairns, Townsville, Mackay, Rockhampton, Sunshine Coast, Ipswich, Toowoomba and Tweed Heads to play in front of NRL talent scouts. If young players have to move to Brisbane just to get noticed then that will lead to many dropping out of the game.
