Just like the evil NSW clubs destroyed the BRL? 🤔🤔🤔
Yes and same thing happened to Newcastle, Illawarra, Canberra and Nth Qld domestic comps

What happens is the after effect of expansion

The only reason why it felt less of a impact was because these areas had a history of regional representative teams

Auckland suffered the same effect

The goal is to setup the top tier correctly professional pathway - FG/RG/NRLW. Then evolve the next tier ie part time RL

Its about increasing opportunities not reducing opportunities

The strategy of NZ Cup would be the same ie same grant for clubs as per Qld Cup plus travel costs. With a 50% average wage being the target as the average player wage at Cup team level

Yeah like no scouts are out seeing young players play at carnivals all around Australia and New Zealand...
They have to wait until they play QLD Cup before they are sort out
FFS
The Donko just laid down his true delusional self.

I never have wanted three games on game day, I liked the idea of two.
But if three Gets Rid Of The Donkey for good I may have to change my stance.

To the New Zealand posters on here you need to read this

I don’t think you guys “get” the idea of how clubs develop players in rugby league

if there was no warriors then you can basically kiss goodbye to most of the kiwi nrl players produced since 95

the warriors opened up other clubs eyes so now everyone has scouts in nz

When I look at the kiwis being produced today, I see the fastest, stronger, most skilled and smarter than they've ever been! Ever!

Yet apparently the NRL has decimated the junior pathways for young kiwis in NZ...🤔
Did they ?
Or are they getting taken out of the hands of those that are incompetent at developing those talents at the right time?
You need the best young kids, playing with the best young kids. That's why they ended up in Australia.

If NZ gets a second side with their academies, then perhaps there's a place for them to stay in NZ...

You say this like its a fact, when as usual you are wrong. If this was the case then why are so many teenagers taken over in the last few years Rugby juniors not League Juniors?

Not to mention the fact that NZers have been playing in the Top Aussie comp for decades before the Warriors were even thought of.

You have zero idea about NZ League history.

And that right there is where its at. An Aussie who thinks they know best.

It doesn't matter that the reason kids aren't getting developed here is a lack of money. It doesn't matter that the reason kids aren't being developed here is the best are taken out lowering the standards. It doesn't matter clubs have gone under and are continuing to do so. It doesn't matter that junior numbers have been decreasing for decades. It doesn't matter that long standing League districts no longer have teams. It doesn't matter that the Warriors haven't done anything of substance outside of Auckland in decades.
All that matters is there is enough players to play in THEIR competitions. All that matters is that they think they are winning a "war" that only they think is real. All that matters is placing a new club will be a "massive blow" to THEIR enemy, despite not bothering to put the money in before hand to help NZ League make it a success.

These Aussies don't actually care about the game of Rugby League anywhere outside of Aussie, all they care about is their competitions and beating their "enemy".

Exactly

joey manu is a dead set freak and he isn’t close to his best yet

then you’ve got guys like jfh and Jwh who are just scary dudes

Māoris like islanders were made for league their talents are wasted in union

I expect with the higher salary cap and the return to nz the warriors will be reactivating and growing their juniors too

The Warriors always have been a sleeping giant!
People can talk about how poor they are all day long but they are a Penrith in waiting. Mark my words!

Despite the numbers declining year on year for the last two decades. But a "higher salary cap" will fix that? Simpleton.

Have a look at the Kiwis test side, and how many have been brought through the Warriors systems.
The worst thing for the Warriors has been the demise of the NRL U20's competition. NRL clubs are picking the best young NZ players off. This has been going on for a while but since the going down of the U20's it's definitely gone to another level.

I remember the 2002 grand final when the little general scored THAT try and the roosters were looking like losing until Richard villasante had a brain explosion

they took on the best Aussie players of either rugby code and were beating them

the all blacks celebrate beating a team of the dregs of our playing talent when the real test is against our best who are in the nrl

I was googling where some of the warriors best under 20s players ended up and ones an all black

they really were producing stars

everyone wanted to play in their under 20s because of the prestige

Exactly. That's what's boiling under the surface. Once that trans tasman rivalry is ignited in League, there'll be no turning back!
And Union fans know it...
In case you haven't noticed lol

I said it earlier in the thread, That NRL warriors were very good during the NYC years fell away outside of that.

Webster spent 2 years here at Penrith, He will get them back to focusing on kids

After reading Roy masters article (and tbf because of the posts of tgd) I think the team should be in Wellington and not Christchurch and focus on he north island where the population is

it looks like three teams is the ideal number to cover all the regions properly

indeed if the game really takes off a second Auckland side playing in the north might help

To be fair, they don't really care about the game in Australia. All they care about is the professional game in Sydney. It's always been that way and the reason there's no commitment to develop juniors in Adelaide, Melbourne and Perth. Queensland is just a nursery for Sydney clubs to pillage in their eyes.
