New Zealand 2 will deal a massive blow to NZ rugby

Good points, and it kinda leans into the whole "engaging with Wellington when it suits them" narrative, that on many occasions it wasn't the Warriors taking a game to other parts of NZ but Aussie clubs.

I know that the Warriors have limited home games to move, and too many games taken to other NZ locations devalues season memberships in Auckland, BUT a game per year in Christchurch & a game per year in Wellington would've given the 2 biggest population centres after Auckland an annual focus, an annual EVENT.

Even if one is a trial (meaning they sacrifice a solitary Auckland home game in the regular season)
I’m pinching myself that we will get two nz nrl teams

genuinely never thought it would happen in my lifetime

Wahs have had limited onfield success since 95 so hoping the new club is run better

the derbies are going to be epic like the Brisbane ones are and it will grow rugby league in nz like the dolphins have in Brisbane

Yesterday you were saying chch was too small for a team and the wahs generate too little revenue

lmao

It is too small. Hence the reason the bid is the "South Island Kea" and not the "Christchurch Kea". Cowboys wouldn't have got in if they were the Townsville Cowboys.

The Warriors do generate too little revenue for a team representing an entire country. Only the Sea Eagles generate less.

Once we have a clear & publicly announced road map to 20 teams, it's only a matter of time till V'Landys is gone.

His big project, big legacy is getting to 20. Beyond that will be tasked to someone else.
If V'landys and Albo get the PNG team through they'll both be gone before it enters the NRL.

I'll be very surprised if PNG gets a licence. No one will want to play for it.

@flippikat I'd rather @Wb1234, @final say and all his multis shit in my mouth than support a Cantab team. I'd probably support most Aussie teams against them too. TBF (due to the legacy of the Canes) if the Orcas got up I might hate them too, but there's more chance me supporting them than the Kea.

That's the issue, he's creating the PNG and Perth Frankenstein clubs but will be nowhere near the joint when it all goes to shit.

Seems we're missing out on a real league supporter lol
I've herd this rhetoric before and you know what, we don't want you, the game doesn't want you. The game doesn't need you and will be far better off without you. " supporter " lol
Don't let the door hit you on your way out.

The team's identity strikes me as a key here.

To be fair to the bids, I'm not gonna let my hate for the Crusaders make me instantly repelled to a Christchurch-based NRL team - especially if the team isn't in red & black (that's unlikely because the Perth Bears would have that staked-out), and isn't "Christchurch Somethings" or "Canterbury Somethings".

"South Island" wouldn't make sense if trying to reach out to Wellington, but "Southern" or just using the nickname like The Dolphins do? Yeah.. that could work.

He’s only chairman not ceo

game will regress once he goes

loads of more stuff to do like take over English super league grow test matches expand to 24 teams

Abdo is pushing the conference system, so there is already plans beyond these 20 teams, PVL is happy to step down from the chairman gig after all that, but just coz he ain't chairman, don't mean he isn't staying on the board, he'll still be there making decisions and controlling all future decisions, no matter who's in charge

The idea of a PNG NRL team has more holes in it than Swiss cheese, and should NEVER have been entertained by the commission.

Labor will be going last on every ballot I fill in until I die. That's a spot I've reserved for the Greens. It took something special by Labor to bump the Greens up a spot.

Have you seen Duttons foreign policy lol

I voted labor because they might find a png nrl team
Fk me the salt is flowing from every orifice now, first the dislike of the PNG bid, to now the perf bears, his arch nemesis getting a local team in WA, and then some confirmation by his local murdoch owned courier mail confirming the ARLC want a Christchurch team for no.20, not anywhere else in SEQ, donks is probably upset the bronx don't want to build a state of the art stadium in his local Logan, home if the most influential influencer ever
