The North vs South Rugby and Cricket games were always decent they just never really settled on a regular schedule to make it something more. The old school NPC Auckland Canterbury were pretty feral as were the early Blues v Crusaders clashes before they got a bit stale
Yeah it’s the pre-super Rugby Ranfurly Sheild games I’m thinking of. Auckland vs Canterbury, or when any of the smaller provinces had a good shot of taking it off either of those two. I remember being in Hamilton as an 18yo when Waikato won the shield, the place went mental!

Yes your one vote and carry-on is extremely influential, I'm sure Labor is shaking in their boots, the Logan city mayor has turned his back on you Labor,....oh noooo
Didn't you say the North Sydney Bears were returning as Melbourne 2 and PNG Pride were going to be based in Cairns?

There's still no guarantee of PNG getting an NRL licence.

A) stop shifting the goal posts
B) bears were taken away too the club you are sooking about

You're the one accusing me of being greedy for wanting a third Brisbane team. The fact is RL fans in Brisbane had to wait 25 years to reclaim what was taken from them.

Chargers had money in the bank when they were culled.

North Sydney were punted because they did not have a home ground that was NRL standard. They were given a share of the Northern Eagles but couldn't live up to their end of the deal. Since then they've sooked nonstop, despite playing a role in their demise.

What's greedy and sooky is you and other NSWRL fans believing the Bears are more important than every other bid just because they're from Sydney. There's already nine teams in Sydney. Be grateful with what you've got.

I was still right that the png team was getting the licence, aswell as the bears, I just just thought theyd choose a bigger location, since they are currently already there in Victoria at the moment

No one would have cared if Penrith got punted in 1997. They played in front of 5k people. Sad but true.
Cowboys too, no one would have cared If they went bankrupt as they did... seems to be a lot of hypotheticals at the moment with you, png not getting this licence, with all that money left on the table.... sorry just not happening

The team got taken from them because the competition YOU supported was set up by the broncos to stop a second Brisbane team from existing lmao

The team's identity strikes me as a key here.

To be fair to the bids, I'm not gonna let my hate for the Crusaders make me instantly repelled to a Christchurch-based NRL team - especially if the team isn't in red & black (that's unlikely because the Perth Bears would have that staked-out), and isn't "Christchurch Somethings" or "Canterbury Somethings".

"South Island" wouldn't make sense if trying to reach out to Wellington, but "Southern" or just using the nickname like The Dolphins do? Yeah.. that could work.
North Islanders trying to explain why and how they should be swayed by a South Island bid...
The arrogance is palpable.
No, they aren't a Wellington team lol.

It's hard to tell if these are tails of why you should support the South Island bid or why the bloody hell should they accept you?

For the record, the South Island is doing just fine without you.

I get a feeling a South Island bid won’t get any support from Wellington and it will always be little brother to the wahs

not that it’s stopped the crusaders from dominating super rugby

In 1997 the Cowboys averaged 17,539 people to their home games. Panthers averaged 7,673.

The clubs want Albo to give them a $60m lump sum fee on top of $170m over five years. That's $230m. That leaves $370m of the $600m deal for PNG. If Albanese agree to it then it will be a PR nightmare for Labor and the ARLC.

You’ve told us a million times the cowboys had to go to super league or they would’ve gone broke

Why? Why does money coming into RL offend you, maybe you shouldn't be posting on this forum, find you pommy hull mates on four corners again

Oh I know, it's coz there's 3 licences left forever and ever, and Logan didn't get one... mate these licences are a just another way to print money, they cost nothing and every one you give out, the bidders pay for it, and the broadcasters pay for more content per season, you seriously think they are stopping at 20... stop the salt son
