great news for next season
Might be a case of be careful what you wish for, TMM and CHT had a couple of good games but also proved you probably couldn’t count on them for a full season, the fact a busted SJ was still the preferred option speaks volumes

Speaks volumes of what, though?

I think Webby has been pretty blinkered in some of his selections - this forces his hand to focus on a new era. it also gives encouragement to younger halves to stick with the club, knowing they aren't gonna be blocked by a club legend.

Agreed. Webby has resisted forcing changes or undercutting the confidence of the established playing group, perhaps to the detriment of the season so far.. could have been a worse season if injuries didn't force changes as bizarre as that is.
The 2 main underperformers AFB and Johnson are moving on... and once again Webby keeps the axe in the cupboard..
If the Warriors are going to be a force, Webby is going to need to learn a page from the Hasler " tough love" book.

When he didnt play rts at fullback from the start of the season I had a feeling the warriors would miss the finals

Webby is quickly learning a lesson or two in succession planning - and the hardest lesson is that sometimes you can't bank on a legend to keep churning out legendary performances.

Basically - if the body is f***ed, it's f***ed. No amount of legend status is gonna mask that.

So I was walking to my car after work today, and I see a group of guys standing around on the sidewalk deep in conversation. As I get closer to walk around them, I recognize 2 of the men:
1. One of my childhood heroes, Mal Meninga and 2. South Island Kea bid leader David Moffett. As I walk by I hear Moffett talking about the city of Chch and what it's like.

Take from that what you will. I get the feeling we could see Big Mal named as the inaugural coach of the South Island Kea. You heard it here first.

They should go after Bellamy.
Where was this chance encounter?

Disappointing way for SJ to end his career. He should have sat out most of this year injured instead of being brought back when not at full fitness, might have given him the chance then to play out a full 2025 and then retire.

WTF, have you even watched the Warriors this year? He's in the top 3 for run metres, top 2 post contact metres, has decent defence stats, and his try scoring has kept us in games. I don't like the guy as a human being but claiming he's underperforming is just silly.

He's been playing below his potential and takes the easy hit ups late in the set.

Why are there no Kiwi head coaches in NRL or SL? Maybe Stacey Jones will be ready to step up and coach Christchurch by the time they come in?

There’s not great pickings but David Kidwell is from Christchurch, otherwise Nathan Cayless is sort of on the rise in lower grades. Stephen Kearney is always around, as for Stacy whilst a great player I’m not convinced by his coaching prowess just yet- kiwis job was a bit of a ‘job for the boys’ appointment and the desire doesn’t seem to be there either based on his comments when interim Warriors coach

We've often had really good coaches up in the UK, but never really had any good NRL coaches aside from Lowe. Our coaches in the NRL seem to be shit despite being apprentices to good coaches.

@final say B/S, due to our lack of prop rotation both him and Barnett do lots of hit ups/average hit ups, and if we're near the line he usually does multiple as he's out best weapon at that end of the field.

If they pick Kidwell then they aren't winning squat.
