Benji is literally only in the position due to a hail mary scheme cooked up by the clubs incompetent previous management.
At least a hail mary has a small percent chance of working, Benji as the Tigers head coach after 5 months as an assistant is potentially the worst coaching assignment of all time in the NRL and was never going to work. If it isn't the worst I'm struggling to think of anything else.
The entire coaching staff over there has just 71 games of head coaching experience between them, the majority coming from John Morris. How are they expected to compete with anyone with such an inexperienced and unsuccessful coaching line up?
Genuine question, who would want to coach the Tiges?
And I'm not being a hater, I said the same thing about us a few years ago when it looked like we were careers went to die. But we don't have 2 decades of mediocrity behind us
Either a coach looking to get back into the swing of things or one looking to prove themselves, a name immediately coming to mind is Brad Arthur, he's over at Leeds right now, rumoured to be taking the assistant coaching job at the Knights, he'd be a huge upgrade on Benji even though he's a middle of the road coach.
Alternatively maybe the Tigers just throw huge money and overpay a head coach with a reputation, nothing will change until they have people in charge who know what they're doing so maybe take 2.0 - 2.5 million dollars a season and offer it up to a Robinson, Bennett or Bellamy, maybe one of them is motivated enough by money to take the gig and change the team around, probably not but it's better than Benji...
