Unless theres a change in reporting policy, NRL broadcast revenues havent been reported since the year after Vlandys took over.
Only contra amount. media cash hidden away in “licensing” with betting, merch and digital revenue.

Contra is just bullshit reporting, the NRL don’t get anything for it, perhaps a favouritable article when they need it, but tv will advertise games as they need as many eyeballs watching what they’ve paid big money for, to sell ad space. Contra isn’t revenue

Yeh, it’s very rare to see any genuine advertising for rugby league on tv. It’s all just advertising their up and coming games. Advertising Tickets for events is about as far as it goes. It’s certainly not $30million worth of ads! Just a bs way of conning the gullible into believing tv deal is worth more than it actually is.

How is the nrl ahead this year? $402 v $473

you are seriously suggesting aflw is worth a $200mill gap? Lol
origin is supposed to be worth $30mill on its own. That alone is worth more than the entire aflw season to tv. No one’s subscribing to kayo to watch aflw!

your justification for this travesty is perplexing to say the least. Australian Tv partners have right royally screwed us yet again, with the help of our illustrious leaders, and you seem to be making as many excuses as you can for it!
Didn't the Gemba Report state that women's sport doesn't generate broadcast revenue?

Depends what you define as contra. In both the AFL and NRL situations, their Telstra deal includes cash, as well as services in lieu of cash, not simply advertising. These things have some value to the leagues.

Read Steve Mascords Discord column today no.1 of 13 issues that will be interesting to follow in 2023 was this about St Pete

1. Will Peter V’landys see out the year? The NRL chairman has enemies - you just don’t read about them because the newspapers in Australia are owned by the same companies that have the NRL TV rights: the companies to which V’landys caved by shutting down the NRL’s digital arm, only for the AFL to get a much, much better deal on broadcast rights. Ruling buy fear has a shelf life.

For what it's worth, Foxtel in Vic (not sure if it's different for state markets) has had heaps of RL ads over the summer, including an RL Juniors ad (can't remember the actual name of it) which I haven't seen before this off-season.

Admittedly, that's on Foxtel, so it's a sort of 'preaching to the converted' scenario.

Not a lot on FTA down here.

Telstra cash is different to Telstra contra

it had whatever value Telstra put on it

it’s like when america days they are sending 60 billion aid to ukriane and it turns out it’s 20 tanks that were build in the 70s lol

Contra is different to in-kind. Contra is pretty much worthless, in-kind work has real value. eg telstra installing technology and equipment in marvel is in-kind work and has monetary value.

Contra is only considered to be worthless by those with an endless negative agenda.
Contra is basically the same as in-kind.
defined below:
‘Contra is worth what a rightsholder would have to pay for those goods or services. No more. No less.’

In other words it’s an exchange of goods and services with no cash involved.
Effectively if Telstra provides good services advertising etc that the nrl would normally have to pay for, then it is contra.

They are both contra - just different types - the NRLS contra includes app and connectivity stuff for the league, and not so much advertising stuff. The AFL gets Marvel tech upgrades and innovations.

This isnt the advertising contra attached to Seven/Nine and Fox. In the cases of both Telstra deals for both leagues there are legitimate services and tech attached.

I was looking into the Marvel updates and it said starting for next season. So it is being done but being put on the next TV deal or is it 2 different sets of upgrades?

It’s the value of the services provided not their existence. Both parties to the transaction have an incentive to exaggerate their value
