Yes, but considering the way FTA channels measure TV audiences, they'll say their data indicates sticking with the News-Current Affair schedule. I mean in all honesty, how "innovative" are our FTA commercial networks? They are some of the biggest dinosaurs around.

That is the biggest issue. Maybe mid week then?

The growth potential is there but playing games at midday on a Saturday isn't going to see that reached

It's literally life or death time. I have companies that were 80% FTA spends now doing about 10% that former volume.

Was watching the Super Cars on Ch 7, they run full 3 minute commercial breaks picture in picture.

Surely this is what the NRL needs to do to maximise the next TV deal ? We could run a 2 minute break after a try to kick off.

A major reason our deal is smaller than the AFL is they have the advantage to fit in roughly 20 minutes of commercials in game. If we run a 2 minute break after try's that will close the gap.

It is because they take the Fox feed directly. Also though you can time the ads for during pit stops or other lulls. Not sure you get that down time in NRL.

often they replay action while play is still going because so much action

I agree but can’t say I know what the answer is. As the NRL continues to expand there is less and less time to show the NRLW without either overlapping or having really bad timeslots. Not sure what they’ll do going forward.

We still have a add Melbourne, Dolphins which adds costs of the flights. So getting revenue right is key to growing it.

The future is going to have to be double headers.

Bring the mens and womens comp to 20 teams each, scrap the NRLW brand... it's just NRL with one women's game and one men's game back to back from the same stadium.

E.g. Broncos v Panthers on Friday night has the women's game kicking off at 6 and the men's at 8.

This also has the benefits of making NRL broadcasts 4 hours instead of 2, increasing the opportunity for advertising space and pushing up broadcast and sponsorship deals.

Look at say, the Australian Open tennis... you don't have AO and AOW, you just have the one AO event that features both male and female tournaments.

Yes, this means that not every pair of matches get their own slot, some will overlap like the fumblers currently do, but that's inevitable as the comp grows.

Honestly women should play in October

even if it goes into summer play at night

nrl needs to make the content worth something to add to the tv deal

and yes I don’t think this would actually happen but the a league players in summer so it’s doable

If the women can continue to improve, as evidenced by the recent origin series, then perhaps in the future, NRLW could kick off at the same time as the men's first Origin game of the series, and not have any NRL matches scheduled. You could repeat this until the mens Origin series is over. Maybe have this schedule over a three week period.

And when the NRL returns, the women can commence their own SOO series, with no NRLW.

With NRL finals series in September, there is less matches, so it's easier to schedule NRLW.

Maybe NRLW can have a standalone final series in October and have a grand final on the first week of November.

Sure, there will be rounds where NRL and NRLW are played at the same time. But there are other weeks where NRLW could get alot of exposure.

I reckon most fans would rather 2 live men's on a Friday, 3 live men's on Saturday etc.
