It suuuucks. I've been waiting years for the Steelers to get their cap in order so they can go buy someone useful instead of picking up FA scraps.

Still, if they're ruthless with their cuts and make a few extensions/restructures they can go into FA with $45-55m to spend, more likely to be $20-30m though because they are fraidy cats.

Bud Dupree is on $9.2m for chrisssakes, cutting him leaves no dead money, sign him back for 4 or 5 or let someone else be disappointed in his production.

If your gonna do it... do it now while Wentz is cheap... once you have to pay your QB it changes the outlook of your entire team.


TBH... I’m happy if we give up one of the late 1st’s for him... it would turn it to a straight Coop for AB trade... which I can live with.

I am seeing rumours out there that it could be as low as a 3rd rounder... which is f**king nuts...

Interesting trade proposal I saw today...

Pittsburgh get pick 24 & 27 from Oakland.

Oakland get Antonio Brown & 20 from Pittsburgh.

So the Steelers get the 1st rounder they want but drop back by 4 spots while the Raiders get one of the best WR’s in the game and move up 4 spots but lose a 1st rounder.

I don’t know if the Raiders want to give up a 1st though.. from the sounds of things they were haggling over 27 or 35.

I guess the Steelers will want to hang out long enough for more teams to get involved to try and push the price up but they risk him making more social media videos or doing more interviews which may put off the few teams who remain interested.

He’s also got a $2.5M work out bonus due in a bit over a week so I guess we will probably find out pretty soon.
