Non Footy Chat Thread II

Even outcome from a Yes vote and the Voice is better than the status quo...

Case in point:
Yeah, that was just about unforgivable.

I suppose the voice could recommend a penalty for those responsible.

Money is not going to cut it.

I’d be thinking 5 or so years of the dirty river executive helping out in remote indigenous communities and go from there.

Something personal and meaningful to show proper contrition.

Much better use of their time than destroying the planet and scamming shareholders.

I’m beginning to like the voice.

Speaking of... I just finished watching the "other two" on Australian Story, part one of telling their side of the Silverchair story. When they were on, they were on.

He undoubtedly was, as evidenced by the evolution in his song writing on Neon Ballroom, and then Diorama - by which time they'd lost the rock, but his talent was there for all to see.

Still, the other two were a pretty rhythm section back when that was what Silverchair were all about - and it was a pretty good doco part one. Also a shame Daniel's talent has largely gone to waste since those days/over the past 15 years, replaced by drink driving etc.

Now now now Gronky.

This thread is supposed to be relaxed and easy reading.

We happily mine and export uranium.

There’s no ethical issue involved in taking it back.

A good question for the voice.
Bowen posted about this today. TBH I don’t think the cost is super high, compared to the subs, but the cost per kw is very high.

But he’s right, where are you going to put 71 small modular reactors? Hiw big is your backyard?

All we need is 7 to 8 nuclear waste dumps to pay for these 72 sites.

Source:

And then we’ve pretty much got all the power we need and about half a billion dollars left over for humane and indigenous projects.

Breathe new life into outback towns and that kind of thing.

Thousands of jobs created.

Visitors and tourists amazed at how cheap our energy is. Businesses knocking on the door, shock horror, industry might move back in.

The envy of the world.

Ease the pain and suffering of poor and old people.

Put a dump on one of our islands like Howard did with the refugees.

We would also become more influential in world affairs, especially as coal is phased out.

Mark my words, people will revisit nuclear power once more coastal cities start going under and little island states disappear.

Leave the woke in the wake!

Otherwise:

A skeptic might say a many of the Duttons reactors will end up in safe Labor seats. 10% margin or more should settle the issue.

So about the same as 12 subs? What's the problem??
I already said the cost was not the issue. The issue really is that we have a grid and these SMRs will have to be plugged in to the existing grid. So good luck with that.

Moving forward, the cost per kwh is huge compared with renewables, so I hope that nuclear is supplementary to renewables otherwise there will be a riot over energy costs. Also you can’t switch these babies on and off like diesel generator, so they need to be running 24/7.

Ziggy already did a business case for SMR and they don’t stack up in a country that is blessed with an environment conducive to renewable energy.

A long time ago, triple (double ?) J used to put an unearthed band in Martin Place on random Fridays. I saw a bunch of unwashed greasy kids called Innocent Criminals thrash through my lunchtime.

Of course Ben Harper had something to say about their band name ….

Have another listen there is some good stuff in there, but they were pushing shit uphill after nevermind.

I felt In Uetro was a better album . That was real Nirvana for me. Nevermind was far to polished. Bleach, Incesticde, In Uetro had that real grunge sound. So did many of their B songs that never made it on a disc.
Unplugged does represent Nirvanas true sound but also a great Album.

But songs like Serve the servants, Frances's the farm will get her revenge, Sliver, Aneurysm. Just roar power.

That’s why I’ve always liked Muddy Banks.
