Thanks, guys!

Can't wait for the footy!

I think I need to stop getting so excited about interviews I feel I nailed - it makes the fall seem worse.

Thanks, guys.

My problem is I really hate my current job - boss is...no good.

And I have been to two interviews in the last month (one of which was last night) where I got really, really positive vibes from them, and I was knocked back.

In fact, for the first job, I hate to sit two online tests and then schedule a phone interview - this all happened inside of a week. Everything was going so swimmingly, and then they dropped me cold.

Last night, I was on fire - I got involved in the group stages, asked a lot of questions, and I could see in their faces they were impressed.

But today, the phone call came that, "Sorry! You're not getting hired!"

I'm really bummed. I have a resume that is obviously attracting interest, but for some reason, when I actually go to interviews, I am being put on the shelf - the only logical conclusion is I am somehow off-putting.

The thing that gets me is that these two jobs I was knocked back for were perfect for me, and after they showed so much interest in me, to not go forward with me after that...It's very hurtful.

Worst part for me is that I have to keep going to my current job.

I am very bummed out.

And I apologise for monopolising the thread - I just needed to vent.
Your boss sounds like a knobend, hopefully you get the job you deserve mate. You'll get there, hopefully in 6 months you will look back and laugh.

Relevant, maybe worth ringing the 2 interviewers and ask them politely where you need to improve

That's good advice. Particularly if you can get honest feedback from BOTH of them... It'd be interesting to know if their reservations were of a common theme/nature...

One job said a better-suited candidate got the job (fair enough; I then applied with them again for a position in a different suburb, and the ad us still up, 6 weeks later), and this morning, the other people said I didn't use enough examples of my own experiences when answering questions - but this was a group interview, and the games we played, I wasn't able to provide examples. Later on, in the one-on-one chat, the guy didn't ask me anything; I had to ask questions regarding the company (which I was happy to do).

Just seems odd to me, because I know - I know - I nailed both interviews, but it feels like my time was wasted...

I asked the first company (the one who had me sit both tests and do the phone interview in a week) for feedback, and all I got was, "Unfortunately, the role was offered to a more experienced candidate."

They fobbed me off, after making me think they were keen. Very frustrating.

Keep at it mate. They obviously haven't read thousands of your posts, like I have on here. You're clearly a clever bloke. If a couple of blokes fail to see that, they're the idiots.

It's a learning experience these interviews. You will fine tune your answers especially trying to answer with examples.

Alot of people know theoretically but have not experienced it. Especially when dealing with people.

I know when I interview, I basically give the same examples to the same question over and over to all the different companies.

Overtime, you will have your own FAQ and standard answers with examples

which pretty much proves its a scam

No. That proves that some people run scams that are designed to replicate Paypal's genuine communications (i.e. the best type of scams). Gronk's situation is clearly not a scam. If he logs on to paypal independently, he is able to verify that the communication was sent by them.

The problem is that email is not secure. I have been dealing with financial institutions who say they will protect my privacy but then ask u to send them all your details like tax returns, drivers license et Al via email

I've noticed that HSBC are now sending their emails with encrypted messages and instructions on how to obtain the body of the email.

If you don't want to scan and email such private information then that's ok. I have been nominated as one of PayPal's SIRL (Secure In Real Life) verification agents, so we can just meet for a coffee or beer and I'll take down the information. No electronic verification required.

Sounds legit.
