Return on investment, if you're putting in $20mill a year for next 5 years then you'd hope to see the current $4mill digital generates in revenue significantly increased, it will need to go up at least $20mill to recoup the expenditure post 5 years of spending $100millionwouldn't you say?

Vicky Kicky house has put $20 million a year into the midgets since they were formed and have little to show for that. Sometimes its more than just about money and they also have done the same for the thuns as well.

SMH reporting the same $590m revenue figure, which is a lot more than the broadcast deal, even allowing for non broadcast revenue increases. Wonder where all the extra cash is coming from?

$1.8bn - $360m p.a
$150m non broadcast revenue

=$510m p.a.
Leaving a difference of $80m a year before factoring in;

Radio, NZ & international rights ?

which would put total annual revenue at somewhere around $530m, well short of $590m reported to be forecast, unless it includes club revenues, but then it would be a lot higher I would imagine.

Couldn't that be for a similar reason to the NRLs Sydney figures being so bad? If that game rates around 200K on fox could you not assume that a lot of those ratings are from Sydney? Just playing devils advocate here.

Probably unlikely as the AFL have always had shit ratings in Sydney.

It's not on FTA so that should help a bit. The real question is how it compares to Sunday night at 6pm IMO. Because that's probably a better slot for crowds and lets fox have a super Sunday of NRL.

It's consolidated revenue in last year's annual report, it doesn't account for the difference.

if you read Cumberland Tossers post he is claiming they currently rate 120k on FTA and the NRL used to rate 450k but only the NRL's FTA ratings have dropped

I'm actually preferring the early Friday game over the Thursday night game and missing Monday Night footy. I would like to see MNF come back and the Thursday night games be saved for the end of the season. I wonder if 9 would be keen on swapping Thursday night for Monday. Would have to be better than all their crappy reality TV shows. Alternatively, maybe Fox might be willing to give up the Saturday night game to Nine if they can have MNF back considering that since they can simulcast with Nine, they probably won't lose any viewers to them after the first two games.
