It's just stupid to punish a player by making him wrestle everyone in the team. If for nothing else, it's time consuming and cuts into whatever they were supposed to be doing.

You just pull him aside and tell him it's not acceptable to be late. If he does it again then just stand him down.

I would assume thats been done before with little to no result.

also, I'm sure pre season boot camps are just as punishing if not more brutal without singling and individuals out.

^^^ christian welsh said on the ABC sunday morning sports show offsiders, that Storm stopped dealing with players like that 20+ years ago. Well-being and treating the problem at the core on a personal level has far greater outcomes than hazing.

Look at the Rival code down there.

Adelaide Crows made the GF in 2017 and then decided to do a pre-season army camp in January 2018. The Coach and Head trainer thought the players needed to be more mentally stronger after getting spanked in a GF.

Coach was sacked a few years & numerous players walked out including a lot of indigenous players. After the trauma that happened during the camp.

The club has taken years to recover from it and haven't played in a final since that camp.

Yeah, but I think it's the singling an individual player out where such practices risk getting into bullying and harassment territory.

I think the question has to be asked, and answered, do the Panthers train and treat players this way? I think it is pertinent, given where the instigator of said actions at training has been previously.

It's my understanding the Storm still do this type of camp every pre-season. A club who last lost more games than it won in any season over two decades ago.

Cleary dosent appear to be that sort of coach but I suppose The Assistant didnt either. Maybe Ciraldo is under instruction from Buzz's Bestie.

Apparently Gus told 7 he will announce another 7 or 8 signings shortly.
Probably more spin from Gus how many of them will be re-signings and signings that have been signed off that we know already in the media but yet to be announced from a club statement.

I recall Reed's wasn't announced until late late year but he signed in November 2021.

I genuinely don't feel Parra has issues internally.
I think it was a terrible season and a poor start dropping so many early games by a few points but we lost our best prop for half the year. Our best edge forward for most the year along with D.Brown for about 8 games and Moses missed I think 7. Along with no real hooker. Lussicks not great but probably a improvement on Hands and Hodgson.
Just need to improve the backline a little. Also not against a new coach instead of Mr Potato Head.

With the way our Sg Ball and Flegg side is going I also think the junior depth is looking promising moving forward. Unsure about 2024 but 2025 the Eels will be a very good football side.

The rabbits have Latrell who seems an issue. Also Cook and Walker getting old. And Ilias is still questionable to wether he is the future. That's 4 big question marks on the 4 most important positions. Also don't get what Wighton brings to the side or where he plays. Seems a bit of a waste of 800k if at centre.

The Dogs may just click. But we still are unsure if Mahoney and Burton are worth those big dollars. Kikau I also think has played his best footy. He may have one more cracking year but I don't see him getting to that 800k+ level. Also blows my mind they let Averilo go along with Ciraldo thinking Perham was a better option. Crazy to think about tbh. I never see sides who just spend big go well long term. Time will tell.
I’m only surmising, outside looking In. I’m not being critical it’s a tough competition.

I don't think it's the camp that is the problem. Those are a great opportunity for challenging merkins and building a sense of group identity. The problem would be singling merkins out for punishment, and worse, punishment administered by their peers. Toxic bullshit.

The thing is different players respond to different methods. There’s every chance players like Mahoney or Kikau agree with the method even if it’s used against them, while a Pangai or Topine do not.
The problem is if the punishment is being driven by a few, even if it’s the coach, as a means to weed out “weak” squad members, it’s a f**ken deplorable thing to do
