NRL and its clubs are expected to palm-off expansion until 2014 or 2015

Of the three favourites which two teams make the most sense?

  • Brisbane II

    Votes: 137 67.8%
  • Central Coast

    Votes: 55 27.2%
  • Western Australia

    Votes: 182 90.1%

  • Total voters
    202

The results of the poll on this Bris2 cheerleader thread are brought into perspective by the 5000-6000 respondents on the NRL website poll on preferred expansion locations which just ended. Results:

Central Coast Bears 33%, Central QLD 33%, Perth 24%, Wellington 7%, Brisbane 4%.

Only surprise is the strong CQLD result. The rest were as to be expected.
So a poll which shows Brisbane 2 in a good light is a cheerleader thread, but a poll which shows Central Coast in a good light (and can be manipulated by people entering multiple votes) is somehow more credible?

Its also a poll that has just as good a result for Central QLD as Central Coast, but no doubt we should ignore the Central QLD result as being irrelevant, and only concentrate on the Bears result....

the IQ is pretty low for polls on NRL.com

Which is your favourite NRL-based TV show?

NRL on Fox
13%

The Footy Show
53%

Barefoot Rugby League Show
1%

The League Lounge
4%

The Sunday Roast
23%

One Week At A Time
7%

Why? Its a very good result for CQLD, very good for Central Coast, OK for Perth and diabolical for the rest. It shows how passionate fans for their bids are.

Its not scientific champ.

May aswell start quoting wikipedia while you're at it.

In regards to brisbane2 its a very different type of bid. Compared to the others the city already has a team. There will not be an obvious fan base until such a team starts, or at least gets approved.

The only way such a bid would bring in an immediate fan base is if it came from a current brisbane club or from a single geographical region of brisbane.

Both situations would limit the fan base of such a club.

Take a look at port adelaide in the afl for why this would be a very bad idea.

Bringing a second team to brisbane is just a totally different beast to the other bids.

Just because there isnt a clear fan base now doesnt mean it cant be huge success.

Its a cheerleader thread because all polls with sufficient sample size (say over 2000) and broad reach (ie general community) over the past 12 months and more show the Bears most supported, then Perth, then CQ.

CQ did well in the NRL poll due to the Observer newspaper pushing it and heartland fans responding - good on them, the results will be noted at NRL headquarters.

and again, as in all the other polls the question is about the central coast as an area and not the bears.......imo the results would be drastically lower if the question asked did you want the bears as the next expansion team......caught out again trying to dazzle with bullshit and hope they swallow it

Are you literally trying to suggest that there is more support for the Central Coast as a team without the Bears branding then there is for the Central Coast Bears?

Funny because I could quote the MMM fan poll currently running where the CC Bears are streets ahead, approx 330 votes, then CQ 160, then WA 129. PNG has 37, Ipswich has 21, Wellington 12, Central Coast (but not Bears) 6 and Brisbane 5!!!!!:lol::lol::lol:

Hows that for' dazzling them with bullshit'!!!:D

And yet the poll in this thread, which is actually the only one that asks the real question - which two of these three should get in - suggests the Bears shouldn't. CQ and the rest are not in the running. This pool question is realistic. And it's also accessible to all RL fans regardless of where they are from, unlike NSW-based media polls.

The NRL.com one was promoted on the Central Coast Bears Facebook page :)cool:I'm listed as a fan:cool:) and not on other bids pages. This does not give an accurate representation. These polls mean nothing (especially when 700 people are voting in this triple M one). The strengths of the Brisbane 2 and Perth bids will not be felt until they actually have a team.

Many potential supporters of Brisbane 2 and Perth do not know of their existence (also could be said about the bears, but no where near to the extent). I don't think expansion can be solely put down to current support, rather than future potential support.

What a load of bullshit, the poll in this thread is not accessible to all rugby league fans. Only members of this forum, visitors can't vote and people who don't know about this site or just don't come here for whatever reason don't even see that poll let alone vote in it.

I'm not arguing with anything you have said here but just to btw to some posters. 700 people is a larger collection of rugby league fans then the 89 that voted on this threads poll.

Let me guess. These polls are the type where you can vote as many times as you like. And so the six or seven norths fans can sit their skewing the results to their favour.

I'm sure the NRL in whatever form will be taking a lot of notice.

Do we really need another NSW team?

I know it's been said 183839993399 times, but that's what it boils down to.
