Case in point, the Asian Cup. Best 2 teams in the comp came from the same pool. You won't see that at the Nines.

Great win by Souths against the Cowboys.

Souths didn't even play well in the 1st half but still managed to have a strong win.

I honestly thought Cowboys had a good shot against Souths. That was the game I was thinking Souths would lose.

. . . Then that only leaves the blindingly obvious choice.
Parramatta, of course.
All the logical rugby league based indicators point to them.
Their squad of supreme rugby league superstars.
Their nice blue colour, along with their pretty yellow colour.
Their cute lil snake thingy.
Did I mention their supreme rugby league talent ? Kenny Edwards . . . KFC Sandow ? Such co-incidentally famous names such as Folau, Pritchard ? And of course perennial favourites like Faraimo, Lavaka and all the permutations of anything even close to the word Paul.
And who could forget Moeroa, who achieved fame well before his time when his name was sung as part of the lyrics of the 70's classic " Blinded by the light" by Manfred Mann and of course his earth band.
The other squads might as well not even turn up.
The only squads without a chance are the Tigers, Panthers and Storm . . . but not the eels.
You heard it from Natheel first.

To be fair Panthers have proved me right. Just Tigers are going better than i thought. meh who cares. obviously it hit a nerve with you though

Get the lyrics right mate. "Revved up like a deuce, Another runner in the night"

Eels should win it.

They will want to defend a bit better though.

Their attack was very good. Sandow was brilliant.

yeh we can let a try in anywhere but can score them anywhere too. Good to see Norman running the ball more

Norman finally seems to have his knee right which is a good thing for you guys. Hopefully stays that way.

I'm happy with way Souths played too.

Once again I have to call into question the finals scheduling of the Nines. As per last year, the Semi Final stage doesn't see the A and B pools cross over with the C and D pools (I know they have fancy names but I couldn't be bothered typing them). Under this format, if the best two teams are in the same pool, they cannot meet in the Final.
For example, if the top two teams in Pool A both win their Quarter Final, they play each other again in the Semi Final. I think that happened last year with the Warriors and Cowboys meeting in the Semi. If they had crossed over they probably would have played each other in the Final.
What it means is that teams who are in the same pool CANNOT meet in the Final. It's a pretty stupid system. With pools crossing over in the Semis, ANY two teams can meet in the final.

This is probably the most pathetic post i've ever read, you've got to beat the best teams to win it in any case, as has bn said it's about rest times. that's obviously why it's set as it is. and I bet that the Warriors last yr would have preferred to have beaten Brissy in the final than N.Qld.

Great to see people think that the Nines is worth refining, closer to extending the tournament's time frame we will become

Agree about natheel but eels should win this

Eels should win it.

Not 100% sold on Parra yet. Yes they won two games but both were on the bell and could have gone either way - the second against a very inexperienced Knights side.

They very well could win it (the sides I expected to be unbeatable like the Warriors and Cowboys haven't looked that great yet in all honesty) but I wouldn't say they "should" win it yet. They're very beatable IMO and to get to the end you have to win a lot of games.

So far I've been much more impressed with the Sharks - although I know they're in a much weaker pool than Parra.

Sharkies have looked really good but it's hard to tell whether they are just on fire or if the teams they have played (Broncos and Doggies) have just been woeful. I'm guessing it's a little of both, today's match against the Roosters who have been playing as if the games are going for 80 minutes should tell us more.

There has been talk around for a while that the Sharkies were going to go hard at the tournament because they need the money pretty badly. The way they have been playing looks as if they have trained pretty intensively at this type of format.

Yeah lemon squash that story about sharks going hard was last year when they sent gallen, carney etc.

Sent a squad of young players this year. Talented for sure but definitely no "stars" in this years squad... Which is good !

I'm going with Sharks vs Rabbits GF. If Warriors stay switched on they should get there but I just expect them to lull off in the finals (should they make it).
