The trouble with acronyms is that my blood ran cold for a few seconds when I thought it was JFH.Seen that JWH is retiring come seasons end.
We knocked Johnson a lot (whilst doing the opposite too, the over-the-top praise) but he always wanted to be a Warrior. The Tigers simply don't have that luxury with this Galvin.I'd have no drama signing Galvin tbh, he's an elite talent as a half….
That said, I’ve always liked Luai, which hasn’t been a common view…. he’s got plenty about him imo.
Saw a segment from Fletch's podcast yesterday with Matty Johns weighing in... reckons he understands where the players being upset but that Benji should've overruled them and played Galvin anyway because they're a better team with him in it.Jeez, the wife gets hooked on the drama MAFS, the drama of this story has me hooked as well lol
From NRL360, Moses fronted Richardson with a dossier of issues Galvin has with Benji, Richardson shut him down after the 2nd one
Benji and Richardson decided last night they’d continue to pick Galvin in first grade. Senior players went to them this morning and said they don’t want to play with him. Benji told him he needs to front the squad and explain himself, and they ended up having to shut that down because the players weren’t copping what he was saying
Im starting to turn a bit and feel sorry for the kid, his dad and Moses are clearly running the show and that spot this morning standing in front of his team would have been bloody tough. That statement is very poor with “I don’t have a club lined up” then “I need to develop at a different club”, absolute porkies
As Anasta said, you’re worried about development with an all time great as coach, 4 time premiership winner at 7 and 3 time premiership winner at 9
Anyone know how exposed we are to Moses? I heard Webster is on his books, but anyone else at the club?Shane Richardson handling this really well tbf
Moses certainly is a concern for clubs where he gets his teeth in
That is incredibly unprofessional. And Turuva just left Penrith, for what I presume is a bigger pay cheque at the Tigers, in fact I'd guarantee it is. So that is hypocritical, as well. Poor.Turuva posted a picture of Galvins locker with “here comes the money” attached to it, brutal
Few stories quote us as next behind ManlyAnyone know how exposed we are to Moses? I heard Webster is on his books, but anyone else at the club?
I didn't think we were too badly placed now. Different when we had Blake Green, Adam Blair, Kodi Nikorima, Matt Lodge and a few other Moses clients.Few stories quote us as next behind Manly
Agree the social media posts aren’t great but probably not surprising either given what’s happened. That is incredibly unprofessional. And Turuva just left Penrith, for what I presume is a bigger pay cheque at the Tigers, in fact I'd guarantee it is. So that is hypocritical, as well. Poor.
To me, Galvin knows he can get the money and a club with a hope of winning a premiership. He doesn't have loyalty because he didn't grow up a Tiger. He was an Eels junior. The issue lies in the fact he has a grubby f**k for a manager, who has no morality about him, which is why it's ended up how it has.
And Luai is a hypocrite, as well. Where was his 'team first' when he left the Panthers, who are now 2nd to last, for more money? Is it OK because they won 4 premierships? Maybe it is. But the Tigers never gave the keys to Galvin, and he's paid $250k a season through to next year, according to reports. That's Ed Kosi money.
Maybe Galvin has shat on Benji, and you would say he should get out without putting a mess on the coach's name, if it's happened. But from what I've seen, the Tigers wanted to extend him, he said no I don't want to stay, which is absolutely fair enough. And maybe both sides have got it wrong around that.
Do we have public record of Galvin saying the coach and the team isn't good enough? OK, we have the meeting with Richardson on the coach (so we're told) that was leaked by someone, but I haven't seen the team part?Agree the social media posts aren’t great but probably not surprising either given what’s happened.
But I don’t see what he’s doing in the same light as Luai and Turuva leaving Penrith or any other player leaving for a better offer. Players hold out for better offers all the time. Personally, I don’t have an issue with Galvin holding out if it was just about the money. People would’ve still questioned if he’s worth it, but not to the extent this has blown up.
I think where people are getting their backs up is the disrespect he’s showing in the process. To say his coach and team isn’t good enough for him, and (allegedly) be unhappy about playing second fiddle to a 4 time prem winning half… man, that’s ballsy from a 19yr old rookie with less than 30 games behind him, no matter how talented.
The money and ‘team first’ thing have just become conflated with the real reason people are pissed and posting dumb shit on social media which is, IMO, the fact he dumped on his team.
And in fairness to Galvin, that getting out was probably the club’s doing, not his. But if his camp didn’t expect that to happen, they were being pretty naïve.
I think a difference with Luai and Turuva is they were off contract - Luai was never disloyal to Penrith, now he has a new team...That is incredibly unprofessional. And Turuva just left Penrith, for what I presume is a bigger pay cheque at the Tigers, in fact I'd guarantee it is. So that is hypocritical, as well. Poor.

This. Completely different to move at the end of your contract.I think a difference with Luai and Turuva is they were off contract - Luai was never disloyal to Penrith, now he has a new team...
No, I think the team thing is implied (at least as far as I know) via a combination of his criticism of the coach, previous attempts to get out, and also that incident last year where he was overheard saying he couldn't wait to leave.Do we have public record of Galvin saying the coach and the team isn't good enough? OK, we have the meeting with Richardson on the coach (so we're told) that was leaked by someone, but I haven't seen the team part?
I don't think it's in the same light as Luai or Turuva, but I do think they're kidding themselves to a point with 'team first' and 'money money money', especially Turuva who literally just moved for money, albeit not what Galvin is going to get.
I don't have an issue with Galvin not re-signing, not one bit. He should get his cash from 2027 onwards. But I am 100% against trying to wriggle out of contracts early.
I dunno how it ended up this way but f**k it's messy.
One thing you can say though, the NRL gets controversy like no other code I can think of. And it's a hell of a good thing for its popularity and ability to stay in the headlines.
