Vlandys: ok yes we tried to fiddle you out of money by understating our revenue, and ok yes we out a,salary cap announcement without letting you know, but what do you mean you don’t trust us?
The escalation comes after more than a year of negotiations over the new collective bargaining agreement, with relationships between the two sides turning toxic.
The Rugby League Players Association was left seething in December,
when the NRL announced the new salary cap for 2023 without the blessing of the players.
Speaking on SEN last week, RLPA board member and Melbourne Storm forward Christian Welch labelled the process 'really frustrating'
"Fourteen months ago, we tried getting the ball rolling on financial information and trying to get requests to the NRL," he said.
"There's been a real lack of trust between the two parties which has been really disappointing because we're really not close to an agreement at all."
He went on to say that he didn't believe the NRL were taking the RLPA seriously.
"We're not asking for anything unreasonable, which has been really frustrating.
"We just want to get on with our jobs and play footy."
