NRL Salary Cap/CBA -2023 - 2027

Trying to get inside the players heads, I cannot help but think that maybe, just maybe, they are actually thinking somewhat along the lines of PR here.
If I was a player I would be massively asking the NRL why has that other game, which does not draw as many people watching on TV as we do, get a shit load more money than us??
And if you are going to undersell us well then now you can pay us the more that we should be getting.

Now I'm not saying I agree with this, but if this is the case, and this has strategised their thinking, and actions, well I understand.

Edit: I'd like to see where the time frame of when these negotiations went south. I wonder if it coincides with the announcement of the other games deal.

I rather think it has more to do with concerns re cte tbh. Obviously pay is a key one but a % of revenue agreement shouldn’t be too difficult to agree and find a compromise about.
I’ve seen numerous players now talk about the need for post playing medical support, support of have to retire early and long term help if needed. I’d have thought this could be an Insurance scheme of sorts but wouldn’t be cheap hence why I’m sure nrls reticence on it.

story this week on the latest British player to express cte issues at just 44.

maybe the played are pssed about what they can see their afl counterparts are about to get but as that hasn’t yet been announced I dont think it’s necessarily a key driver.

You are probably right. I understand what their negotiations have supposedly been about. I'm just wondering aloud if they have looked at the other mobs cash, and then gone "well if we were getting that, we could be doing this and that, etc" ie: what you have just said.

I'm actually not against strong negotiations between two entities. At least it means there isn't a dictatorship going on.

Yeh they’ll find a compromise, they always do. Just a shame it’s in this acrimonious way. Come to be expected with the current management it seems.

id rather see the players getting more money than the clubs tbh, the clubs should be earning it themselves. The players are putting their bodies on the line for our entertainment,

The players are getting more money overall than the clubs, aren't they?
I know you dont like the current management but the facts are that they have brought in more money than any other. Yes it could have been more, but it still remains the fact that they have brought in more.
That minimum amount going from $60k to $120 is pretty mind blowing.
Harry Grant won't even be able to mention tradies from this point onwards!! As that what Supervisors/Foreman(person) get!

For me the seat on the Commission and Match Payments for Finals is just taking the piss and dragging it out for the sake of it

Then ask for a higher cap, Do they have reps on their commission or Match payments?

I 100% agree with the fact that they should not be getting extra money for finals. That is total BS. Play for the club the best you knownhow, on the money you are on, for however long your season ends up.
The spot on the Commission should never happen. To me it opens up room for the person to be compromised.
Stay external, it will benefit them more in the long run.

Players getting around 350 million more over this cba than the last one and they still want more dollars on top

at the risk of strike actions the arlc should hold the line and not offer a cent more
