NRL Salary Cap/CBA -2023 - 2027

Oversight by the nrl that the players don’t waste it then ask for another ten million during the next cba as a top up

if it’s for genuine medical issues post retirement why would players be afraid of oversight

the nrl has already been more than generous to providing the money the players wanted for this fund when really they should be paying for it themselves out of their large salaries

Thanks for clearing that up. In relation to the medical fund, yes, I agree with you there.

hence the reason the NRL can't give the players a costing, They aren't to know what England are paying Tonga to tour later this year.
So if I’m playing in SL or nsw cup and get picked for Samoa or Cook Islands or fiji in end of season games who pays me?

Well if they are willing to take that risk. Simple really, say players will get paid X% of revenue/profit generated from internationals. It then becomes incumbent on them to make internationals as successful as possible, everyone's a winner. If they make a loss they dont get paid. I think we all know that if run well and with the Tv $'s here that internationals could be the next cash cow for the NRL. Players know this. they arent as dumb as we like to think.

Still dont understand how players not in the NRl are going to get paid for these games under the NRLs proposed system??
So why cant this logic be applied to SOO and NRLW?

Correct

And who pays them?
In the past they had to raise the money themselves

I suspect the arlc will as they to sell the tv rights for this (they have a broadcaster already lined up) so they should wear the coats associated with it

4 matches between samoa nz and aus

png Cook Islands and someone else playing their own series too

NRL only need to worry about playing players from NRL - would be much better to have internationals governed and paid completely separate, but that would result in much lower payments.
Looks to me like the NRL are trying to do their best to fairly reward all international players from their competition, in what is a bit of a shamozzle of the international game. It certainly appears to be done with best endeavours in mind, but the RLPA think it’s some big conspiracy to take money away from them…..
What about SOO?

What happens with here?

This agreement is an NRL Collective Bargaining agreement. As such it can only cover players who play in the NRL. As such it can cover players for international rugby league, provided they play in the NRL. If they don't, they are excluded by its operation. That's simple industrial relations law at work.

Origin absolutely, theres a decent argument origin players are well underpaid for the amount of money the series earns the NRl and the two state bodies.

NRLW totally different kettle of fish. Thats what is known as a loss leader for a sport trying to attract a more gender diverse audience and Govt funding.

In the past the two countries involved took all the money from the test match and split it between them, usually the hosting/organising country the lions share as they carry the risk.

what the NRl is proposing with this end of season souther hemisphere series is they organsie everything and take all the revenue, and pay NRl players involved $5k a game each. Where that leaves the countries governing bodies and non NRL players has not be sepcified by the NRl in any of this.

Gasp nrl organises games involving nrl players and will pay them

this is just awful

FYI England aren’t Invited
So the NRL is giving them money for these tests as well as paying the NRl players involved directly?
probably thought Tonga went rogue to tour England so obviously the money offered was better

real shame Tonga aren’t involved

So where does the shortfall funds come from?

As the raw NRL comp revenue(non SOO) can't even fund the NRL comp salary cap

Not sure what you mean? NRL revenue will be over $500mill without Origin this year . Men's salary cap is $204mill. Leaves plenty of money for funding NRLW.

Aren't the RLIF supposed to run international league? Shouldn't they be organizing the player funding for tests or series?
