NRL to buy share of Super League

I agree, but how do you think the mechanics of this should work
How long is a piece of string? It needs its own thread tbh.
If the NRL is seriously going to buy out English and French football and clubs enter partnerships with each other then it will require a whole of game approach which ensures traditions of the game in Europe are respected and the incorporation of proven best practice approaches used in Australia to maximise participation, sponsorship, tv deals and government support etc. Given league here has only just worked most of this out itself (and still has a way to go) it will be a lot of fun methinks.

Yeah the idea sounds good but how to go about it properly is a puzzle. Perhaps some of the stronger super league clubs could take over an NRL franchise licence, like Wigan buying out the Canberra raiders. A bit of give and take perhaps. Thanks for your insights, I appreciate them.

The NRL should just buy a few clubs and invest heavily in them:
York
London
New castle
Sheffield
Bradford
Toulouse

Bring these clubs up to par and into SL you have a strong 18 team comp with a good geographical spread .
pump some money into pathways and infrastructure and enter one of those clubs into SL every 2 years, with a little sweetener to SL to guarantee entry ( maybe a million pound)

The comp will grow, the broadcast will grow and the clubs you bought will be worth more.

Well, I'm allowed to dream lol

That's true. I thinking how Aussie investors would approach Salford. A united team for Manchester would be better & that may not even work.
There was an amateur team from Manchester called Manchester Rangers that played out of the etihad campus who applied for semi-professional league 1 status but had their bid rejected by the RFL in favour of the Ottawa aces.

in true RL fashion neither clubs exist today.

Good ideas and I think the NRL should seriously look at maybe even French clubs or even the French domestic league which would be less complexed compared to the politics of buying into or owning outright English teams.

cities of interest should be Toulouse, Lyon , Montpelier, Marseille, Bordeaux and possibly Paris.

NRL won't invest in Perth, so don't see them propping up teams in Europe. Backers can be found in Bradford, Toulouse & London. I remember Steve Mascord who proposed NRL buying superleague in 2015, talked about pooled media rights fees & grants given to all clubs. Maybe dazn will want superleague along with NRL?!

I had spoken of this in another thread where the French league are within jumping distance to a fully professional league but that will need Catalans and Toulouse to commit.
If you could prop up 6 or 8 clubs financially for 5 to 10 years and get Toulouse and Catalans on board, you might grow something worthy of a TV deal... but you'll be going up against the the strongest and richest Union comp in the world.
