It wont be outside of Auckland, it will be Auckland2 if it ever happened.
It'll be Christchurch in new 35k stadium & represent south island with population of 1 million

You keep repeating same sh... But ignoring the extra kiwi content & derby.
I'll now repeat myself; nrl's actions tell you which expansion they view as more lucrative

Christchurch based club won’t represent the whole South Island anymore than calling the warriors nz has created a feeling that they represent the whole country. Their memberships and audiences would be through the roof If that was the case. Christchurch is too small and without the corporate support to fund a viable nrl club, unless there is some billionaire we don’t know about from there just sat on the sideline waiting to invest in an nrl club.
and for the last 8 years they’ve been saying perth is more lucrative, just because Abdo spouted a throw away line about a possibly 18th nz team in some long and distant future I wouldnt hold much belief that the nrl has any idea what it will do in 5 years time.
Sure mate, NRL haven't done their sums & will miss gold mine in the west. Case for nz2 is stronger else you'd hear Perth talk.

I am pretty sure they havent lol for example they havent talked to sage who just this week has gone public that he has a consortium willing to put $30mill into a perth club. So yeh they haven’t done the sums at all, they haven’t even got the sums back on brisbane2 yet lol
just a throw away Line from the puppet Abdo.
Yes nz’s most successful union team, how much room does that leave for an nrl club in a city of less than 400k people in terms of supporters and sponsors? Be like putting an nrl team in Gosford if there was already a hugely successful sports club there.
WA only has one city so you can call the reds whatever you w at but in reality it was playing in a city where 90% of the population live. Nice that it’s inclusive in theory but in terms of support base it will come largely from the city not the entire island. Anyway it’s probably not going to happen for perth or Christchurch for a very very long time so not much point playing hypotheticals.
ps stadium will be 25k capacity,
That would be branding-dependent.
If they wanna wear the red & black - traditional Canterbury (the NZ province) colours, then they'd need to do some work convincing other regions that they're representing them too.
With a neutral set of colours & mascot, they stand their best chance of being a South Island team, or "everywhere outside of Auckland" team, or whatever the desired geographical market is.
The Warriors have been fortunate that a) they've been our sole team and b) their colours have green & red added to the traditional Auckland blue & white (for whatever reason and motivation).
A second NZ team will need to strongly consider how it brands itself to make a point of difference to the Warriors.
Townsville has about half the population unless you want to count cairns which will prove my point
lol Only for the 3-5 year life of the contract, the more knowledgeable have been saying for some time that big tv contracts are on borrowed time. Not to mention the real value is in the extra content not in the location when it comes to perth or adelaide or Christchurch or Auckland2TV money is guaranteed.
Aren't Sky on record saying they won't pay extra for a 2nd team? Not if sky pay more for new team in nz than fox & nine(?) for team in Perth.

and isn’t playing second fiddle to a more popualr code and is reliant on pokies to be sustainable.

Like I said, it is being designed and funded for 25,000 capacity!
I cannot see American streaming services putting in a massive bid for Australian sports. If the price is right they will take them, but they're not dependent on them like Foxtel. Who knows what will happen to Foxtel when Rupert Murdoch dies. His son Lachlan could throw a ton of money at RL due to his love for the Broncos, or the company might go bust.To sky location is all important. Anz netball competition was split into conferences because they wanted more kiwi games!!
To nine Perth isn't important because they don't care about location. Shows value of that place.
Nobody knows how things will play out with streaming & pay TV. What we know is as long as pay TV exist it'll be paying top dollar for live content
The NRL (and RL in general) has an extensive record of making terrible business decisions because of infighting and internal politics.Sure mate, NRL haven't done their sums & will miss gold mine in the west. Case for nz2 is stronger else you'd hear Perth talk.
If you set the club up well they could be competitive.Yes nz’s most successful union team, how much room does that leave for an nrl club in a city of less than 400k people in terms of supporters and sponsors?
