Both Mens and Womens suffering from similar recruitment issues it appears.
You do realise that two of our big guns have not even started yet ? I feel for the girls, such a short season and we've got a NSW origin 7 and big gun prop and they are busted. Hopefully back this week.

EDIT: nope

Parramatta Eels

  • Jade Fonua (hand, TBC)
  • Elsie Albert (calf, Round 4)
  • Rachael Pearson (calf, Round 4)

We let two walk out the door to other clubs in Broughton and Panatani for family reasons did we get anything in return?? I bet we didnt, just laughable. Easier to blame covid and bad luck I suppose…………

I'm not sure if you are taking the piss or not. We won one game in the regular season, the last game vs the Broncos who were just as poor as us. We then won our GF in the semi vs the minor premiers Roosters. Then in the real GF were brought back to earth by the knights who were a class above.

So all this talk about our GF team is a tad over blown. Secondly all players were off contract from every team (except for one marquee player) and we had four new teams. The four new teams picked the eyes out of the existing six and the player drain was huge, with allegiances dictating a lot of signings because of Harvey Norman NSW Women's Premiership comp where we didn't have a team. So the girls who played Harvey Norman for the Tigers or Dogs or Sharks all wanted to play NRLW for them. Hence why we lost of lot of girls to those teams. They were basically going back home, Tiana Penitani (Sharks) is a perfect example. So too our first fullback Botille Vette-Welsh who did an ACL. Why didn't she come back to us ? Because she's always a Tiger through and through. Our 2022 FB went to the Broncos because of her partner was QLD based etc etc.

I know that al lot of people just look as the scoreboard and don't give a crap about mitigating factors, or "excuses" and many label them, but f**k me it would have been all avoidable if the NRL allowed is to actually secure our squad who found some form/combination at the end of the season. Nope, every season all the girls were free agents and you had to try and re-sign then all over again.

Anyway as the worlds smartest man says, it's all MONs fault because he is glacial slow or something to that effect.

So we've basically only ever won 1 regular season game in our entire history?

It has indeed been a shambolic set-up for the NRLW competition in these early days. Limited teams initially, so players playing "out of area" with nothing in the annual contract structure that encourages any sense of team loyalty. Not to mention everyone mixing for Origin duties before any contracting for the club competition was allowed to begin - with the four new clubs into the mix.

Hopefully that will all be rectified by the league with continued establishment and permanency in the NRLW - even the idea to play two Origin games (instead of one, or three) was stupid.

No Halfback again. Albert is named as a maybe.

Meanwhile Newcastle are at full strength.

Simaima Taufa leaving hurt us the most, well I was pretty surprised

From memory she is from out west, and some interviews she was always saying how proud to be playing for her home team Parra, she played like a female Ray Price imo. She should have been the last player to leave, considering some talk players leaving Parra to go "home" to other clubs

Last year we made the top 4 (in a 6 team comp 1691123262290.gif ), winning only one game prior the finals but all those games were close F/A was only -20.

We are -54 after 2 games this year. Maybe its a rebuild year? Whilst each of the 4 new clubs added this year have chalked up a win so far

She's played for Mounties in Harvey Norman since 2018 and played for Roosters NRLW for years before us. So I don't think she felt any loyalty as an eel.
