I'm not entirely sure what team id pick, but i know what players id swap.

Firstly, i know Tahu didnt play last night, but i dont know why he was even PICKED.
he USED to be good, i thought origin was picked on form, not on name. Look at the stats for this year and he doesnt pop up.
Beau Scott, again what the?
Joel Monaghan?

Again i thought it was picked on form, obviously not.
If it was me my back line would be:

1. Hayne/Gidley
2. morris
3. morris/cooper
4. beau champion (leading try scorer, with 14 tries this year)
5. nathan merritt (13 tries this year)

Dont see why champion wasnt picked as he has been the best centre this year, and same with merritt as he has proven to be a safe player who does have that X factor.

Why monaghan and beau scott and tahu were picked was a deadset JOKE.

The best form NSW side
1 - Dugan
2 - Morris
3 - Morris
4 - Lawrence
5 - Hayne
6 - Sutton
7 - Pearce
8 - Snowden
9 - Farah
10 - Galloway
11 - Hindmarsh
12 - Gallen
13 - Bird

14 - Douglas
15 - Weyman
16 - Heighington
17 - Gidley
18 - Mannah

Don't make Gidley captain, he is completely inept as a captain. Give it to Hindmarsh, or Gallen (Gallen as captain means he'll be more inclined to keep the niggly sh*t to a minumum)

Personally, I believe this team would be good if kept together as much as possible over the next 3-4 seasons

Great side. I didn't know you were a Tigers supporter though!?

In fact, that's pretty much the side I would pick except for the sake of it being the third game Mannah would play and Weyman wouldn't.

Look series was long over before yesterday's match. Game 3 shouldn't be about winning but edging closer to a solution. Can't say anyone deserves another go from watching last nights match (too angry...) but the near future (2011,2012,2013) should look something like this.

1. Hayne
2. Dugan/Uate (eligibility)
3.
4. Morris
5. Morris

6.
7. Pearce

8.
9.
10. Mason
11. Hindmarsh
12. Gallen
13. Watmough

14. Gidley
15. Lewis
16. TLL
17. Snowden

18. Mannah
19. Douglas

Cats like Weyman, Creagh, Waterhouse etc can all stay at home.

HOWEVER most important issue here is to stick with what you got. I mean players like Pearce/Hayne/Morris have a bright future in Origin and they'll only get better if you stick with them through thick and thin.

The empty spaces I really have no idea...

1. Dugan
2. Morris
3. Morris
4. Jennings
5. Hayne
6. Campese
7. Pearce
8. Snowden
9. Farah
10. Douglas
11. Gibbs
12. Watmough
13. Gallen

14. Gidley
15. Learoyd-Lahrs
16. Mannah
17. O'Donnell

Justifications:
1. Hayne has not been playing as well this year, but deserves to keep his spot. Has also shone in the past from wing. Dugan is the form NSW fullback.
2. Morris & Jennings in the centres provide speed and skill that we lack out wide. Also consider Lawrence and Champion, but I feel Morris & Jennings shade both on their respective sides of the field.
3. I've gone with Campese because I feel he's the best long-term prospect at 6 for NSW but either Sutton or Soward I could live with - between them at least we've got some creativity.
4. Pearce was best back last night, just needs more help.
5. Ennis ran for 12 metres last night. Smith made 78 metres. Easy to forget he was out there.
6. Gibbs will raise an eye-brow but I see him as our version of Nate Myles. Capable of playing front or back row, terrific defensively (and not of the Hindmarsh 3rd man in variety), and can play big minutes. Have a good look at some of the games he's played this season. In a pack where he wouldn't have to shoulder a huge work-load he'd be fantastic.
7. Watmough if fit, otherwise Mason.
8. Mannah / Galloway / Grant on the bench (preferably 2).
9. Bird for Brains if he's suspended.

Players to never be considered again - enough is enough:

Weyman
White
Creagh
Hindmarsh
Barrett
Cooper
Monaghan
Waterhouse

join the likes of Perry, Lyon (doesn't respect the jersey), Kite, Tahu.

I know I'll get lambasted for Gibbs, but to me that side is better up front, out wide, in the halves, defensively, with ball in hand and more balanced. Get a decent coach and that side competes not only instantly but is young enough to grow together and provide a solid nucleus for the next 5 years.

Give the captaincy to Gallen, seriously he was our best last night.

This is a game where we can find out if guys are good enough. if we lose its nothing different. Guys like ennis, cooper, tahu, monaghan, white, hindmarsh ... we know what there going to do and we can always go back to them if we need too.

Its now time to see what guys who dominate club football but people say "cant take the next step up" and see what they can do. Jamie Soward and Robbie Farah are arguably the two best club footballers NSW have. Give them a chance. If Soward is found out then at least we tried it. If he comes off we arguably have one of our halves for the next 5 years. Same can be said with farah. Snowden, Lawrence, Jennings, perhaps Dugan, Luke Douglas, Tim Mannah, Bird...even Idris, while I dont think hes an origin player, if they plan on him in the future which they obviously do then put him in there.

1. Dugan : Give him a crack played well for country could be fullback for years.

2. B.Morris : a very good finisher if we ever gave him something to finish.

3. Jennings : NSW need some sort of attacking threat out wide not a second rower.

4. Lawrence : Give another young centre a crack even if its Idris. I think Lawrence is probably the best of the bunch.

5. Hayne : NSW most dangerous player put him and Jennings on the same side like origin one last year when NSW at least looked threatening.

6. Sutton : Out of him and Campese really Sutton hasn't had a go so give him one.

7. Pearce : I am not as high on Pearce as others are i think he is ok at best, Wouldn't mind if they picked Soward.

8. Galloway : i'm sure he will make metres which would make him the best prop for years.

9. Farah : Offers creativity he was poor last year but he is more talented then Ennis and really we need him playing well.

10. Douglas : Toiled hard for Cronulla for years he should of had a crack by now considering how awful the other props have been.

11. Watmough : NSW most damaging forward on his day.

12. Gallen : He works hard a complete grub i wouldn't mind him off the bench but Learoyd Lahrs probably deserves a crack.

13. Lewis : Either him or Watmough should be captain.

14. Campbell : Deserves it has been one of the best players in the NRL the past 10 years he deserves a game at least.

15. Mannah : Good impact from the bench he is young hopefully he will do well.

16. Learoyd Lahrs : Play him in the second row where he is supposed to play see how he goes only NSW forward that doesn't deserve to be dropped imo.

17. Snowden : Another young prop deserves a crack we need to stop picking the same props over and over again.

NSW need drastic changes people talk about loyalty but you have to earn that loyalty the two teams in this year state of origin deserve none whatsoever They were lucky it was wet in game one and Queensland stopped playing after 60 minutes last night.

We need a team with pace and power Queensland are a great team but we aren't even threatening to beat them, No matter how great they are we should at least be competing.

We need a young side only old bloke i picked is Preston Campbell because he has deserved a crack in Origin for years. This is a dead rubber give him a blues jersey let him show us what he can do.

The NSW team for game 3 should be similar to what the selectors have in mind for game 1 next season.

For me you can say goodbye to Cooper, Monoghan, Barrett, Ennis, White, Waterhouse, Gallen, Hindmarsh & O'Donnell.

The team should be

1. Hayne
2. Morris
3. Scott
4. Jennings
5. Merritt
6. Campese
7. Pearce
8. Weyman
9. Farah
10. Snowden
11. Creagh
12. Watmough
13. Lewis (c)

14. Gidley
15. Learoyd-Lahrs
16. Mannah
17. Prior

Haynes 1st run in game 1 where he bumped off Thurston is how he needed to return every ball last night but instead he just wollowed up to the line as if he had just filled his undies. Not good enough from our supposed "best fullback" IMO, regardless of how dominated our pack was.

What are you? A mental idiot?

You obviously only watched the game with your "I've got an ax to grind" goggles on?

Hayne made 6 kick returns for 62m.
Compared to Slaters 5 for 31m.

Doesn't say a WHOLE lot except that Hayne made plenty of meterage with his kick returns (even if he HAD just filled his undies). Sure, sometimes it's good to trample over Thurston when returning the footy - but Hayne seems to have figured out a method for making prolific meterage on his returns without needing to do that every time (and even if it looks like he filled his undies).
He's also first in the NRL for the meters he makes per kick return at club level, and he uses the same tactics in that situation too.

Would you have been happier if he'd made 12m per return? 13? Or did you fill YOUR undies watching the game, and come on here to take it out on someone else?

I suppose you want Morris to stop 'slouching over' while he's running because that doesn't suit your aesthetic stylings either?

1. Dugan - Young, exciting, and a genuine fullback. Puts his body on the line, and isn't a lazy player like the player in blue wearing number 1 last night.

2. Morris - Game I he didn't get the ball, Game II, he got limited opportunity with the ball.

3. Scott - I thought he did quite well. Considering I thought he would have a shocker, he really got in the face and pestered Inglis - Haven't seen that in a while. (Funny the NRL site doesn't have stats for him though)

4. Jennings - He should be there. He is an exciting and dangerous player. Why they chose Tahu and Cooper of him is an outrage.

5. Burt - Safe, and consistent winger, with specialist goal-kicking abilities. Would do the job in the sky blue jersey. Other option is Merritt.

6. Sutton/Carney - My issue with Sutton is consistency, but I think he has fixed that up this year. Would be good to test Slater and Boyd with his massive kicks, and has good size to fill in at lock to give the utility a bit of a run.

7. Wallace - Has come back from injury in form. He is NSW's best option at Halfback, and is a level headed half who will still get stuck in even when the going gets tough. Will have a good understanding of how Lockyer plays.

8. Snowden - Aggressive and enjoys the hard wards. Never says die attitude which means he won't go missing like Weyman or Creagh. Does the nitty gritty work for the love of it (often see him smiling when returning the ball from the kick off).

9. Ennis/Farah - This battle will continue and I'd be happy either way. But Ennis needs to stamp his authority on the game. We haven't seen him produce any sort of result and seems reluctant to move out of dummy half for quick metres.

10. Learoyd-Lahrs - One of few NSW players who can hold their heads up. He works hard in attack and defence. May be a bit suspect starting the match, but a late change with a bench player isn't a bad idea.

11. Gibbs/Heighinton - Been impressed with both of these players, and either would do a great job. Good runners, and great defenders. Tigers wouldn't be able to be near where they are without these guys (really wish Ellis could play SoO too!)

12. Gallen - Gave one soft penalty (shouldn't have been a penalty), but for the most part was the hardest working NSW player. Made 112 metres from 14 hitups (unlike creagh's 3 for 22 metres), and is a good defender.

13. Lewis - Tireless worker with the skills to fill in anywhere necessary. Can run, pass, and kick... WOuld be a great asset in the NSW side.

14. Mannah - Hard runs, fast player the balls for our wingers, fullback, and hooker to take advantage of. Will do the job.

15. Douglas - Has been playing out of his skin for the last two years and would do the same for NSW. Hard working, and gets the metres.

16. Mason - I don't like him - but he has been playing well this year because he has kept his name out of the media. Not a starting player, but impact off the bench.

17. Campbell - We need a nippy player to move the tired QLD pack around. We don't have that at the moment. Adds another half/five eighth/hooker/fullback option, with a good running and kicking game. Defence could be an issue, but I think it has improved.

Hayne - Lazy and out of position. Until he wants to show some intensity in club games, he won't perform in SoO. His kick returns are ineffective, and he goes missing when the tough work needs to be done. I also have no respect for divers.

Pearce - Am tired of the wraps channel nein want to give him. He didn't perform, didn't seem to want to get involved, did not guide the team around the park, and did not defend well. Kimmorley's performance in game I was levels above Pearce's game. I know Gould is trying to talk up keeping the same side, but Pearce is a club player - not Origin.

Creagh - We need hard working forwards - this guy is not that, pure and simple.

Weyman - Unfit for Origin, and soft as a marshmellow.

Hindmarsh - Didn't perform bad, but if we want to move to the future we need young guns.

Gidley - Shouldn't have been in NSW for the last however many years he has been there. Club player only.

White - Sadly was NSW best prop last night... But that wasn't particularly hard.

O'Donnell - Good for a bit of biff, but defensive lapses.

One big problem was the props! Weyman was just being slammed and bumped around the entire night, white had ONE good run the entire match! Compare that to Scott and Shillington last night who were awesome. Drop both, and FFS have two props on the bench! Galloways been good, so is Douglas, Snowden, Mannah, and Mason. Leroyd-Lahrs i believe should be retained.

1. Josh Dugan - give the kid a go, he has guts than the junk NSW wheeled out last night
2. Jarryd Hayne - Lack of options is the main driver behind him staying, he is one of the few guys NSW have who can win you a game on his own
3. Michael Jennings - We need players who can score points in the side, period
4. Chris Lawrence - Very strong defender, and offers 100x more in attack than Cooper or Scott
5. Brett Morris - Great finisher, just needs to sort out his defence
6. John Sutton - Give the bloke a go, better 5-8 than Lyon or Gidley, plus Bazza is gone
7. Mitchell Pearce - Tough kid, very strong defender, was NSW's best last night behind a woeful pack
8. Kade Snowden - Another guy who deserves a shot, wouldn't let anybody down
9. Robbie Farah - We have lacked serious creativity in the first 2 games, give him another crack
10. Aiden Tolman - How does White get picked over this guy?
11. Anthony Watmough - Aggression
12. Nathan Hindmarsh/Chris Heighington - someone who will work there arse off for 80 minutes. I am leaning towards Hino but I think he has a little to much BS in his game still
13. Luke Lewis - The most complete player NSW have, play him the full 80, just because he starts at lock doesn't mean you can't shift him around if you have to

14/15. (2 of) Keith Galloway/Luke Douglas/Tim Mannah - Depends on how Sauce goes against Canberra since he has been out for a while, Dougy won't let a single person down neither will Mannah
16. Paul Gallen - Aggression
17. Greg Bird - impact player from the bench, always plays well for the blues

Great side. I didn't know you were a Tigers supporter though!?

In fact, that's pretty much the side I would pick except for the sake of it being the third game Mannah would play and Weyman wouldn't.

First things first - clear out every single player that has had multiple chances (i.e. more than one) and been an utter failure.

That would clean out Perry, White, Weyman, Monaghan, Creagh.

Then clean out the players who are past their best and/or simply do not warrant selection any more, regardless of what their club fans think.

That would clean out Hindmarsh, Cooper, Barrett, Kimmorley, Waterhouse, Gidley, Mason, Kite.

Then remove all players from the squad or potential selections who are just not Origin standard players.

That would clean out King, Scott, and average club wingers like Quinn, Turner, Burt, etc.

I would keep Watmough, Lewis, Hayne, Idris, Dugan, Morris, Pearce, Gallen and O'Donnell out of the current lot who are in consideration. That is 9 players.

Then I would build around them, slotting in:

- genuine linebreaking talents in the backline like Josh Dugan, Akuila Uate, Kevin Gordon, Josh Morris and Chris Lawrence

- seriously talented props like Douglas, Snowden, Tolman, Mannah, Grant, Galloway

- strong backrowers with good workrates and allround ability, like Bird, Heighington and Aubusson

Then the only area left to really work on is the five-eighth and hooker spots. Pearce at halfback needs to be persisted with - he is our last hope.
