Just on the McIntosh subject, i remember talking to an acquaintance about 3 years ago who was mates with the guy...turns out McIntosh had at that time been given the quiet word that he was set for a callup to the international squad and was asked to attend a meeting with the selectors on a saturday morning. Knowing what was coming, he went out for a big friday to celebrate and ended up sleeping through his alarm. Long and short of it was the selectors were pissed off and told him not to bother packing his bags, theyd go for someone who was more interested.

Well yesterday I think everyone to a man was of the opinion that Bell shouldn't go to England. If he makes a century here it's hard to drop the bloke. The question is do we take into account that when the pitch still had some life on it and is only prospering now on a dead flat wicket? Do we take into account that he's had 18 matches to make a career for himself and only averages 25? Or do we give him a second chance? I'd say take him to England and give him another 1 or 2 tests but take a 3rd opener as a back up if he goes straight back into looking lost at sea mode.

even if he gets a century. he still wouldnt be an automatic selection for mine... he would need to fight like Andrew Strauss.

why the hell does the umpire give warnings for too many bouncers?? that just pisses me off.... bowlers should be allowed to bowl as many as they like in test cricket.

Flemming gone.... edged one to ambrose.. gets a massive cheer from the crowd. the English players stand and give him an applause also...

farewell flem...

Sinclair needs to score something massive if were to be any chance...

Not a bad ending series for Flem....averaged 50.16 and got his career average over 40. Pity he couldn't get a hundred in his last test but proved that he is still our best test batsman.

Sinclair is done and dusted. He shouldn't be anywhere near the national side.

Anyone hear the comment made after Elliot got out when the commentators thought they were off air? "One of the shortest ever test careers" was the comment. Sounded like Jeremy Coney, is he still commentating?

Wtf we're they thinking with Elliott. Not strong enough in either batting or bowling, has a career average of 28 odd and this somehow makes him a no. 6 Test batsman. We've got guys averaging 50 odd who couldn't get a look in.

Should be pushing to make a NZA squad let alone the Test team. The O/D side is the only place he should get a look in, and only to cover for injuries.

i've never heard anything more pathetic than the kiwis wanking on about how Fleming scored enough rough runs to retire with an average of 40

40 ffs

I agree JB. He was undoubtedly NZ's most successful captain which in some people's view is more important
