that is a gun side! just wondering if that's our gf winning 79 side or our 1980 side..

number 13, Greg Heddles played 1 first grade game which was a semi final in 1978 against the dogs and actually scored 2 tries..

Greg was also in a Country team I was manager of in 1981.
I think the team is 1978...The reserve grade won in 1979...but I think Sterlo and the Zip Zip man were in first grade by 1979 under Terry Fearnley...

Thanks Bart....
The Fuifui look alike (Echidna) was in my garden at home. The missus cooked it and a snake and we had 'snake and echida' pie. ;-)

Stagger...they were something. Definitely not the athlete of today. They would train two nights a week then probably sink ten schooners before DRIVING home. Thirsty was thirsty for obvious reasons, but Dick Thornett could sink a few too.
The best drinker I have seen out of the footballers I know would probably have been the former player known as "Blossom" - and his big brother Crusher could handle a few also.
He came to our pub with his team (end of season trip, chasing pigs) when he was coaching down this way.
I reckon he would have sunk fifty middies during the day. He put all his team mates away, and was still looking for someone to have a drink with!!!!

Grumpy was a great favourite of mine especially for his brutality. No-one stood over Grumpy.
My memories of the team of the sixties are so vivid, I can remember the days like they were yesterday...I can still see games 'in the sixties; in my mind...I hope I can retain that ability for a bit longer yet, because, to me, they were special times.
I haven't got a lot going for me, but one thing the good lord blessed me with was a good memory..and for that I am grateful.

I've just sent you a couple more from 1962 Bart. An intersting article is the one about Bob Bugden signing on and the amount he was going to cost the Club over 5 years. Lucky there was no SALARY CAP in those days....
