lol, newmanj answer this question, with he players let go or not re-signed for next year are we looking at signing anyone? surely we must be under the salary cap considerably.

and that way they can use the left over cap to give away 18,000 free ticket each week to fill the place up

We are in the market for some players. That i know. Who, i dont know and have not asked. We will spend the whole salary cap, and i love the club, and dont really care who is wearing the jersey. I will support them anyway. And i will support our coach and management. Sure, they may not be doing a fantastic job at the moment, but we will come good, i feel sure. Every year is a roller coaster, and this year is no different.

Losing Tim Smith, Chad Robinson, Daniel Wagon, Mark Ridell, Tony Williams, John Mannah.

And gaining no one as yet....

We've gone backwards in the last 6 months and no improvement in sight for our roster.

Perfect!

Just a Random Thought, Please note this is a fake

Fake Eels Media Release said:
Eels Ropeable as Promising Junior give Club the finger.
Parramatta fans are shocked to hear that promising young junior product Tony Williams has decided to leave the club. Eels fans attitude then turned to anger when they heard Williams had left the Eels to sign with the club commonly known as the scum of the Northern Beaches, the Manly Sea Eagles. Anger turned to blind fury when it was disclosed by Eels CEO Denis Fitzgerald that Williams had left for a larger sum of Money then offered at Parramatta. “Were is the f**king loyalty?” Fitzgerald Expounded at a Media Conference. “We gave this kid a shot, gave him his break through the grades at Parramatta” Fitzgerald angrily continued, “Every coach Tony had ever had said he was a f**king good footy player, but when we ask him to commit back to our club, he in effect gave us the finger and signed with the scum” Fitzgerald lamented.
It is believed the contract offered to Williams is worth 100,000 dollars more over 1 year less than the Eels 4 year offer.
“It always hurts when a player leaves over money, but we want players who will show some pride and bleed for this club, and if this mercenary wants to go for a quick buck, then he isn’t a Parramatta Man” Fitzgerald concluded.

Please be aware this is a fake. I have Faked this, but it was a random thought going through my head from information I had read here.

This is the same situation as Karl Filinga at the sharks, where they paid way overs for him, and this year are trying to offload him. It is absolutely crazy to pay that sort of money for someone who has not paid first grade football. Good luck Manly.

We aren't trying to offload him yet, from reports last night he was getting ready to play being the 19th man.

I am very upset now that he has gone, but look at the bright side we still have Hauraki and Mateo who are arguably just as fine prospects. Hindy still has a few years left in him, so it isn't like Williams is going to get a spot in the backrow soon. With alot of other jnr coming through it isn't like we are short on backrowers.

If i had to pick between Hodkinson, Keating, Mitchell and Williams which one to let go, i would probably let go Williams (with a heavy heart mind you). You can't keep them all. Even with out poor performances we still have one of the best teams on paper, and I would expect it would have been hard for Williams to crack it here over the next few years.

I don't think will be successful at Manly tbh, they don't have halves. They are a team full of centres and backrowers, and he will just be another forward on the end of some Orford crap. Mind you I wish it wasn't Manly that he went to.

If we don't pull off a big signing soon I think we may struggle with depth TBH. Ennis is the wrong player to go after. Hannat would have been nice, but I really like the look of Mannah, plus with Cordoba, Paulo, FUI and Cayless we don't really need props IMO (even though everyone believes it is our problem, I think our edge defense in the problem).

I think a quality fullback would be the way to go, burt isn't cutting it atm and I like Hayne and Inu in the backline. J.Morris is now at the dogs, what about his brother is he off contract. Maybe Hagen can get K.Gidley here (dont think he would suit us thou), Maybe Mullen (that would be nice IMO) or even one of their backrower (they are a solid unit). I think it is time we desecrated someone else jnr base :D

Don't count your chickens....AFAIK he's not re-signed yet and the Dragons are very interested

The Eels can do no wrong in your eyes can they MITS?

But I understand why that's the case.

Yes mate, they can and in this case they may have, but It was just something that came into my head, more wondering how everyone would have reacted if this press release came out from the club

Then i'll be pissed off, but I am sure he is aware that there is a spot there for him next year with Robo and Wagz off, and his friendship with Paulo and Hayne can not be overlooked. I think he has a better chance here than at St George. Possibly less money now but more money in the future with the likley hood of a Rep jersey (he would start here, he wouldn't at St George).

I'm hoping he stay tbh, I rate him higher than Williams basiclly for his frame. While Williams is big and tall he is not very wide, Hauraki is different to Williams but at this stage I think he is a better prospect. I like Haurakis ball skills for a big man, Williams also has incredable ball skills, but we also have Mateo.

Our forward stocks are being blead dry, and I'm most annoyed with J.Mannah leaving than anything else TBH, but he may turn out like the Armitt boys who knows.

Cayless
Keating
Cordoba
Hindmarsh
Hauraki
Mateo

Paulo
Mannah
Fui

I would have not problem with that pack and bench, Paulo and Fui could also come on into the backrow for a while, they are our best forwards and it would have been hard for Williams to crack it next year anyway IMO

On Fitzgerald, he is only responsible for recruitment of popular players.

All players let go who succeed at other clubs are the coaches responsibility (ditto any players signed who don;t succeed).

The guy is a politician who puts Dennis Fitzgerald and his several positions ahead of the club.

But losing quality players, and the opportunity to sign others, was always going to be a cnsequence of signing Finch for 3 years.

I think that statement is going to be proved incorrect in the extreme some day in the near future.
.

MITS, we could get rid of fitzy, sack hagan, sign a decent coach, sign a decent prop, sign a decent halfback andn give Kris Keating a go in firsts. but it still wouldnt change the fact that we re-signed finch, ben smith and joel reddy (all considered priority signings). Nor would it make us supporters feel better about the sh*t that was AGAIN dished up today.

Also, if the club is in financial trouble as well as being a piss poor on the field, then what exactly is fitzy doing? i have heard the arguement that he may not have the best football brain but he is a good business man, which i agree is requirement of a club CEO, but if he is sh*t at both, what purpose does he serve?
