The biggest difference was James Turd's ego.
There is nothing better than seeing people who overestimate their influence put into their place.

Hird is an egostistical prick but the real issue was that the AFL believed they could negotiate an outcome and control the narrative.

The last few days have been golden. The sense of entitlement that this code and all those involved with it have is stunning.
The AFL thought they'd get off easy but now must have finally realised that all the favours they recieve from the media and legal communities domestically mean sfa when dealing with an International agency.

Hird must have his head so far up his own ass to believe he is not at fault at all. What a complete and utter piece of shit.

It must be a beautiful thing for you to sit there in Melbourne and watch the whole city get its panties in a twist over the aFL being exposed for the grubby merchants they are.

A regret I have in all this is that Mr. manychins Demetriou is no longer there to cop the heat.

I winder why he bailed when he did? Surely he couldn't have known!:sarcasm:

I must admit to being very surprised with the Herald Sun newspaper today. About 12 pages dedicated to the whole saga and no mention of the NRL or the Sharks in any of them. There was a very small snippet which explained that the Sharks and Essendon were offered a similar deal. Sharks accepted, Essendon refused.

That was it.

Remember at the time of the Sharks accepting the deal there were some on here screaming about the Sharks being dudded, how the should of fought on, smith was an idiot etc

Hindsight is a beautiful thing

In many ways, that's to be expected, madunit.

The hive mind of Melbourne would never want an article highlighting anyone else being a more savvy or honest operator than the aFL.

They'd also shy away from the sharks due to the fact that their involvement was nowhere near as comprehensive and systemic as the program that Essendon engaged in and the aFL tried to simply roll past it until WADA smashed them.

it is indeed beautiful... after the arrogance that came about over the past few years..

but i give it about a week and the sentiment down here will be that the AFL / Essendon are victims..

won't take that long.

I'd give it a week or two and the media down here won't be talking much about it at all.
