the whole Essendon sagatalking about what?
the whole Essendon sagatalking about what?
How Cronulla and the NRL got it right as opposed to Essendon and AFL

Not sure why one's place of residence should condemn them to no comment.
What a stupid thing to say.
Suity
Remember at the time of the Sharks accepting the deal there were some on here screaming about the Sharks being dudded, how the should of fought on, smith was an idiot etc
Hindsight is a beautiful thing
So is it the darkest day now? Wouldn't surprise me one bit if AFL pulled out of WADA, they are very much like the NFL in their one country relevance and believe that it makes them world champions and a law unto themselves.
Sharks got off very lightly, they played the right cards and should make Smith their lifetime member if he advised them to cop the hit.
As far as I'm aware, if they were to do this, they would have funding from government pulled as per legislative processes.
Difference between the two was the difference between 8 weeks and 12 months. Sharks were open from the start, Essendon and AFL tried to muddy the waters.
I think the Sharks should be commended with how they responded.
because cronulla is broke and the nrl weren't prepared to put it's brand in front of the club's. lesson learnt is that being broke as a joke does have some benefits
the AFL now has to lie in the bed that it made

Goodbye government funding.
Will never happen.
Greens demand inquiry into Essendon
January 13, 2016 12:29PM
The Greens have called for an inquiry into the decision to suspend some Essendon AFL players.
A system that lays all of its blame on footballers is broken and needs to be reviewed, the Greens say.
Federal Greens leader Richard Di Natale has called on Sport Minister Sussan Ley set up a broad independent inquiry into Australia's anti-doping framework after the banning of 34 AFL players for anti-doping offences.
"I think it is a really big mistake to have a system that lays all of the blame almost exclusively on the players," Senator Di Natale told reporters on Wednesday.
There would be politicians who would be prepared to overlook this and throw money at the AFL no matter what they do, for instance this guy:
Does anyone have a link that states Govt funding of a sport is reliant on being signed up to ASADA?

Why is the AFL bound by the CAS decision?
The AFL is a WADA signatory and therefore must accept CAS's decision. The League, which previously operated under its own tailored testing regime, has expressed concerns about how the code is applied to team sports in the past. Withdrawing from the WADA code would, however, see government funds and support withdrawn from the game. Tuesday's decision sparked debate about the suitability of the WADA code to the AFL and the League said it invited that discussion.
