The Sharks dr getting wind of it and shutting it down as soon as he learnt of it probably saved it being much longer and involving more players. If that's true about it being instigated by the Sharks players it makes it even worse from a player responsibility point of view than the bombers players who were doing what the Club told them to do.

If true, sharks players should have been hammered much harder and Essendon the club should have been hammered the hardest.

The tone in today's west is very much Essendon and players own fault and no sympathy. It's a two page front and back special cover and editorial etc. surprising for an afl state, thought they might have been a bit more sympathetic.

Surely if you lived in perth you'd know how much the west coast Eagles hate the bombers, hence the no sympathy

Cronulla was on a much smaller scale and they co-operated. The essendon case was on a much larger scale and the lies and cover-ups got them undone. The essendon players knew what they were trying to do and deliberately lied to cover their tracks

At the end of the day you wanted cronulla to be punished harshly so they'd have to be relocated and it didn't unfold so now you are bitter at cronulla

FMD.

Are they really serious?
Who do these f**king Victorians think they are?
It just goes to show what I've always thought is correct.
Victorians are a really special breed. The world is all about them, and them only.

I seriously don't know why we don't do what some European countries are doing at the moment, and throw the barbed wire up along the Murray.

Suspended Essendon captain Jobe Watson has detailed his and the players' devastation at the Court of Arbitration for Sport verdict, which banned 34 past and present Bombers from the sport for the 2016 season.
In a statement released on Wednesday, Watson, whose 2012 Brownlow medal is under review by the AFL, said they were struggling to come to terms with the decision, and maintained their innocence.
Essendon players, including captain and 2012 Brownlow medallist Jobe Watson, will be required to miss the 2016 season.

"The decision announced by the Court of Arbitration for Sport to uphold WADA's appeal is devastating," Watson said.

"We are struggling to come to terms with this decision, and feel it does not support the players' firm belief that we are innocent.
"Our legal team is conducting a thorough review of the decision and will explore any avenues available to us."
There are two different avenues of legal action the players are considering.
In what would be a desperate bid to over-turn or, at least, reduce the CAS sanction, the players would have to appeal via a Swiss tribunal, and this is allowed only on limited grounds.
The CAS website says this would include "a lack of jurisdiction, violation of elementary procedural rules [e.g. violation of the right to a fair hearing] or incompatibility with public policy".
While the players' legal team remain angry with the decision, it would be a particularly tough case to win on appeal, for CAS was damning in the manner in which the players allowed the secret program to go ahead without really questioning it or even informing Australian Sports Anti-doping Authority testers on match day.
It would also be another expensive exercise, for CAS ruled 75 per cent of the costs of the initial hearing before the three-man panel be borne by the players, and 25 per cent by the AFL.
Former Bomber Nathan Lovett-Murray, also one of the 34 players, took to Twitter on Wednesday to declare: "To my Essendon teammates we are not drug cheats. The system is corrupt and we will fight this. Do not give up the fight."
Lovett-Murray is unable to complete his role as a player-coach at an Aboriginal club in Shepparton because of the suspension.
The players will also strongly consider legal action against the Bombers, and possibly the AFL, for a breach of health and safety. AFL Players Association chief Paul Marsh said on Tuesday the chances of legal action of this kind was "very high", although his preference is to settle out of court.
One player agent said Watson alone could pursue a case for more than $5 million, such could be the healthy and safety costs against the Bombers and his loss of earnings, particularly if he was stripped of the Brownlow.
Worksafe Victoria has already found the Bombers guilty of having an unsafe workplace in 2012 when Stephen Dank ran his injecting program. Dank maintains he did not give the players anything illegal.

Watson's father, Tim, also an Essendon great, said on Wednesday his son could walk away from the game if he had a year off. Jobe Watson would be 32 by the time the 2017 season began.
It is understood there was a meeting of player agents on Wednesday, where all issues were discussed.
"The players would like to thank our families, our friends, our members and supporters for their unwavering support," Watson said.
"We would also like to thank the AFLPA for their ongoing support throughout the last three years.
"We will not be making any further comment and ask the media to please respect our privacy during this extremely challenging period."

So do we call gallon a drug cheat now too ?

http://www.qt.com.au/news/paul-gallen-reluctant-admit-drug-cheating/2360393/

EARLIER: Paul Gallen reluctant to admit he's a drug cheat

A DEFIANT Cronulla captain Paul Gallen could force ASADA's hand today by refusing to admit he is a drug cheat.

Gallen has steadfastly maintained he has never taken any illegal or illicit substances and is reluctant to accept a back-dated deal by the anti-doping drug agency that would clear him to play in the end-of-year Four Nations Championship provided he is willing to tarnish his reputation.

The offer put to 17 past and present Cronulla players by ASADA of a 12-month suspension back-dated until November 2013 means players have to admit to taking drugs and accept the deal by 9.30am today to allow the necessary paper work to be completed for the players to be suspended immediately.

Any player taking the offer will be suspended immediately.

Some players are expected to take ASADA's guilty enticement.

However, there were reports emerging after the deadline passed on Friday morning that players may ask for more time.

Nine News reported last night that most of the Cronulla Sharks 2011 team will accept a deal offered to them by ASADA.

The two players who are yet to come to a decision are believed to be Gallen and Albert Kelly.

Gallen has indicated he will continue to fight for his innocence in a bid to avoid the slur of being called a drug cheat.

"It's your reputation," he said this week when ASADA announced its findings following an 18-month probe.

"It's what I've built over the last 15-plus years in training full-time and getting to where I've got to in the game.

"That's tarnished now already, but if we do this we're going to be labelled a drug cheat, no matter what."

The victorious NSW Origin captain has taken a strong stance throughout ASADA investigation.

There's a train of thought ASADA may not have sufficient evidence to proceed or substantiate cases against the players and Gallen may call their bluff.

If he and other players take on the doping watchdog and individual cases end up in courts, things could drag on well into 2015.

The Essendon AFL club is still fighting for it's case against ASADA in court.

Players accepting ASADA's offer today will effectively serve just three weeks' suspension, unless they are part of a team which plays finals football.

It's an extremely lenient penalty given the mandatory two year bans imposed on swimmers and athletes found guilty of using banned substances.

The Sharks players closed ranks yesterday at training although the five players named by ASADA did not take part in the session before Sunday's wooden spoon battle with Canberra.

they'll probably let him keep it so he can't sue anyone for losing it

i'm still unsure as to why lawyers think the players will win millions after reading some of the CAS findings

it was their own fault and they denied using drugs to ASADA when they knew they had

Essendon can't tell the players what they injected them with though right ? ( unless now that everything has been decided, the records suddenly get "found" somewhere).

If the records are really lost, I suspect the 34 will all be getting serious hush money for many years to come..

You'd think with all the money Graham earns he could afford a better wardrobe of clothes!

Both clubs should have been hammered. They both systematically flaunted the lawas and did so knowingly. Cronulla's was to a lessor period of time and extent and Essendons punishment should be more severe because of that. This is a big win for WADA and a big smack in the face for the kangaroo court the AFL and ASADA agreed to that found no case to answer.

It's really a Perth dinner suit.

If you believe Cronulla wasn't hammered ,then you are pud pulling.
$1m fine ($400,00 suspended).Loss of sponsors.Club paying most legal fees,Estimates the whole shebang cost the club upwards of $3m.Flannagan facing nearly 12 months on the sideline ,forever having his name tainted.
The club deserved punishment,I'm not arguing the point on that. But 8 weeks trial tests against a whole 12 months of systematic doping ,and a fumbling admin and arrogant Essendon brought the bigger crap upon themselves.
David Smith a professional operator ,Demetriou and co nothing more than checkout chicks by comparison.

But the Sharks weren't shifted to Perth so the punishment wasn't good enough for PR.
Death riding clubs is pretty shitty, i may hate the roosters and broncos but i wouldn't want their fans to go through what souths fans went through in 99, the type of guy that hopes another club fails is just a prick
