With Stewart out, and Dugan on a self imposed Crusier hiatus, Hayne is probably the best #1 we've got... which i think opens the door up for Fergo to be named

IMO the best possible team we could name:

1. Hayne 2. Morris 3. Jennings 4. Morris 5. Ferguson 6. Carney 7. Pearce (I think Reynolds should be picked but we know he wont be) 8. Tamou 9. Farah 10. Gallen 11. Lewis 12. Bird 13. Fensom

14. Woods 15. Merrin 16. Watmough 17. Gidley (I'd pick someone like Hinchcliffe or Tariq Sims, but again we know it will be Gidley)

lol why do some supporters find it so hard to leave their bias out when it comes to selecting nsw teams

I can't see Fensom getting a look in if he can't even make City/Country.

I'd be tempted to put Gordon at fullback, but if not, Hayne can go to fullback and have Gordon/Uate/Taufua on the other wing.

Ferguson has been in good form but he and Merritt are still behind all those guys IMO.

I put Fensom on my fringe/unlucky players, because having increasing my focus on him of late I can deduce his non-selection by selectors.

a) He needs to stop conceding so many silly penalties, especially in the ruck. You simply cannot afford that at Origin level.

b) His defensive workload seems to take a bit of juice out of his attack. By no means is he a weak attacker, he just looks a bit slow and tired whilst doing so. If we had more support players and he could get away more offloads, that'd also enhance his chances greatly.

If B.Morris is out then Uate should get the gig. He's played Origin before and he's an out and out winger. Fergo derped it up a bit for us playing there, he's a far superior centre imo.

If one of the better Morris twin or Jennings gets injured, Fergo should be next in line.

but there's Gallen. And watmough plays in the middle too even though he wears #11 at Manly. Unless he plays prop, Merrin misses out unfortunately and I wouldn't play him at prop. That's not where he's been firing this season. Different role to what he's playing.
yeah exactly, which is why he shouldnt be selected. and you forgot bird. Merrin is a good player no doubt, but unfortunately for him NSW has some real good locks.

honestly that injury to B.Stewart is a blessing in disguise. We can now shift Hayne to full back. Leave Brett Morris on the left wing and pick from Tafua/Uate/Fergo/Gordon on the other wing. I wouldnt mind either of them being selected. Mythchell Pearce will be selected at 7, lets just hope Daley has enough brains to leave out Gidley.

He is from nsw and furner was asked by city origin if he was available before tedesco was selected (but rr was carrying an injury) but as a winger he is pretty safe and a good try scorer but isn't the best at doing the hard yards that wingers are required to do these days

I'd pick Ferguson for the wing from the raiders before rr. Ferguson is physically quite imposing and would make a good origin player imo.
I rate rr in pretty rarified air, criminally underrated IMO. He'd be one of the first backs I'd pick if I was selecting for the blues. Really only behind hayne and a healthy b stewart. Those 3 would be the ideal back 3.

Like I said if he was a qlder i'd love him on our wing, would be the final piece to make the team perfect. But no, boyd, ugh.

I agree with that, and if they dont pick him on that, so be it because penalty wise, he is a risk and he needs to get it sorted, but as ive said a number of times, Gallen needs help in the middle. Our pack is basically all show and no go. With Gal and Fensom both in the side, they can shoulder the workload and free up guys like Bird to do what they do best, which is break the line and threaten on the fringes.

I dont know what his average metres per game is, but it'd be over 100 id imagine. Gal needs someone like him to help ease the workload.

For my mind, there is no way that Uate with his defenisve issues is ahead of Fergo. Tafua is talented and playing good football, but he hasnt got the runs on the board Fergo has, Tafua is potentially another McManus/Wolfman flavour of the month. I doubt it because i think he's a genuine talent but i wouldnt have him ahead of Ferguson for 2013.

If they go with Gordon at fullback and keep Hayne on the wing, then so be it, Fergo misses out but if your opening up a spot in the wing/centre area by moving Hayne to fullback, IMHO Ferguson is the next cab off the ranks. He's a genuine weapon. Good defense, great under the high ball, strong attack, genuine x-factor, and plays big in big games. I think he's origin built.

So at this stage who are the locks in the backline? Probably J. Moz, Hayne, (B. Moz would have been but it sounds like he probably won't be fit in time now), Jenno and Pearce? (even though he's f*cking terrible) Ferguson would have to be a big chance, I'd like to see him picked ahead of nuffies like Merritt.

Look, if I were a NSW selector I'd be hesitant to play him on the wing. I think his time in the position for us counts against him, and as such I'd reckon that Daley & co. have that history at the back of their minds. He was inconsistent and prone to brain farts when playing there.

When he was moved to centre he came into his own; plenty of space and time for one on ones, hitting holes hard, setting up his outside man and stinging defence. I've got no doubt he's NSW's 3rd best centre, and probably the best match for Greg Inglis. I'd go so far as to say I haven't seen him play a bad game for us whilst in the position.

IMO to beat this particular QLD side we need players who are well adept to playing the positions they're chosen in... there's really no margin for error given the difference in quality between the two sides.

As a Qld fan I would rather not see Ferguson there for youse. He's a game breaker - still raw but to me he seems like the type of arrogant player that will suit SOO and it just might take his game to another level.

And that's what helped qld get over us early in the streak back when guys like slater, Webb, Tate type players that at the time were good enough to be picked but took their games to a different level. And with slater he had that arrogance that got under our guys skin. We havnt had a player like that in a very long time

Hayne comes to mind in the backs, and before him Gasnier had it. The rest usually look nervous and lost.
