Origin 2013 NSW side

why do we need to change the side? i mean apart from some players why do mass changes? yes we lost but Ricky had us going in the right direction. I hope Laurie keeps it going (im not confident though) but really our problem in the past has been chopping and changing the side too much.

Only real changes i'd make

Tariq Sims replacing Ben Creagh
Merrin goes for another Prop (not sure who though)

Play Robbie for 80 and have a versitile backrower on the bench instead of a utility (gidley will be there though).

While our halves arn't perfect whats the use in changing for 2 rookies? the one i'd get rid of first is Pearce. At least carney has some creativeness about him. Adam Reynolds will be a rep player one day but i hope they don't give him a go in 2013 would be too early imo.

On Josh Reynolds...he's tough and a good player at the dogs where he has Des but outside that environment i think he would be found out and baited by QLDers.

1. Stewart
2. Hayne
3. Jennings
4. J. Morris
5. B. Morris/Uate
6. Carney
7. Pearce/Wallace
8. Gallen
9. Farah
10. Tamou
11. Scott
12. Bird
13. Stewart

14. King (Better than Merrin)
15. Sims
16. Gidley (if fit)
17. Grant

I'd personally go Wallace before Pearce (i know he didn't do too well this year) but my reasoning is Pearce and carney i don't think suit well together for Origin. Carney is more the 'spark' where Pearce tries to be the 'spark' and they clash imo. Wallace is a settling half and would allow Carney to do his thing along with the backs like Jennings, Stewart and Hayne with giving them good service. He is a smart organiser but if he has too much on his head he tries too much (Wallace) so with players like NSW have and the forward pack they have i think he could be a good option while Reynolds gets blooded through next year and gets through another full year before maybe taking over in 2014

Scott was beyond terrible this year. Maybe Bennett can get him back to his best but I think his best days are over. Tony Williams if fit and playing well should still be inthe 17. Merrin is better then king and should have played game 3. Gidley is a complete waste of a spot. Bird and Lewis are sufficient utilities if anything happens to a back.

I know gidley is a hack but he will most likely be there

Scott I still think he offers something if Wayne can get his head back into it. Ad I don't rate merrin tbh I'm probably the only one but I really don't see much in him

Only dragon I think that deserves to be there is Morris

King I only put because let's be honest we are short on good props

I hope Ricky gets Tim mannah back to where he was when he was selected for nsw because he was coming along well.

King is better than very, very few props in the NRL and definitely not better than Merrin. Carney will have plenty to prove after a poor debut series while useless Pearce will get his spot by default as usual

Adam Reynolds would be beyond hopeless at origin, he is own club teams like 5th choice attacking option.

Agreed, for the next couple of years anyway. Josh Reynolds would be a better pick but even then he was pretty overrated this year.

Pearce probably would have played better had he played at souths or dogs this year. However, Pearce is still only in the team due to lack of options.

One stand out half and we would of smashed QLD this year, it's a shame.

get the right forward pack in front of him and then at least he has a better kicking game then both Pearce and Carney combined and at least he can kick a field goal

Had his best year because he played as a 5/8 where his running game (his best asset) came to the forefront.

Suggesting Mullen should be the halfback because he had his best year in a long time due to being moved from halfback to 5/8 takes irony to a whole new level.

Having two blokes in Mullen & Carney that can go missing big time in the halves is also a concern

Yeah, Mullo shouldn't be near a blues jersey based on 2012 form, which in all reality still needs to be improved upon.

He's even less of an option at halfback

I hear Someone is out with an ACL. Anyone would be an option off the bench but I think the selectors will go with the Wrong One again

Pearce hated playing this year because of Brian Smith, which affected his performance. If he gets along with the new coach and if he can get him going, Pearce could be back to his best.
Better attitude = Better performance.
