On the bench, he's an impact player and can play in the forwards or backs. That's where nsw go wrong, picking based on "form" or "effort". Qld see potential stars, and then stick with them and turn them into stars. If idris was a qlder he would be a way way better player by now because qld would have given him the confidence to flesh out his potential. His potential is great. In shape and trying hard he is a wrecking machine on offense and defense. Where he's lacking is in areas that should make his coaches and trainers ashamed, not in areas that suggest he himself fundamentally sucks. He doesn't, he's just a project that has been mismanaged.

I agree that Idris has been mismanaged but he still shouldn't be selected. 4 back rowers on the bench isn't going to work either.

Yet you picked Merritt and Idris...

I also get the impression you've never watched either Morris play if you think all they ever do is fall over the tryline.

Not sold on Merrin, but other than that this would have to be close to the best side NSW could put together.

get the right forward pack in front of him and then at least he has a better kicking game then both Pearce and Carney combined and at least he can kick a field goal

Awesome, so we can lose 28-1?

That's about all we will be scoring with Reynolds running the attack

Souffs seem to have no trouble scoring with Reynolds at half - and that's with John bloody Sutton in the 6.

Being in a team who can create points doesn't automatically make you a player who can create points. The Bulldogs have no trouble defending but that doesn't make Kasiano a good defender... I could go on and on, it's a ridiculous notion.

Their main creative outlets this year were Inglis, Sutton, Luke & at times Taylor. 1 line break Assist in the whole season just doesn't cut it for a halfback when you're talking about SOO level, he does a very effective job at club level but he's got a long way to go if he ever wants to crack it at Origin.

He's already better than Pearce. We don't need his creativity. Assuming we're smart enough to pick Hayne at fullback, we have plenty in the other 3 spine positions. What we need is someone with a decent kicking game, which Reynolds definitely has. He also appears to have a very calm head on young shoulders. We'll see how he goes at the start fo the season, but for mine Pearce has been tried and failed, and I cna't see any other realistic option. Maybe Sam Williams... although that's really only based on half a dozen games at the end of last season.

Pearce hasn't been great but these guys are too young, we all know if they fail they'll be dropped and probably struggle for the next 2-4 years. All of the young halves were good but none of them were great. Williams form at the end was better than any of their form but even he only performed for 6-8 games.
