Ha ha f**k! I just saw the score...

After all the hoopla and Sam Kerr this and Sam Kerr that for the past 3 years, I will lol if Aussies don't make it out of the group stage and she doesn't even make it on to the pitch... One might even coin her most memorable quote and say "suck on that one!"

Great goals by Nigeria, and they really controlled the game after levelling at half time.

Australia didn't convert their chances and possession enough in the first half, and that continued through the second playing catch-up.

Monday night's clash with Canada is now sudden death, and should be very exciting...

That Panama v Jamaica crowd number is extraordinary. I'd be interested to know the cost of a ticket for some of these matches.

How many people go to an A League game?

Are these crowds mainly tourists who have travelled for the games to follow their country or local people from those country? Or just general people interested in soccer??

I notice these games aren't broadcast.

Every game is broadcast on Optus.
A massive, missed opportunity for someone like SBS to broadcast this tournament.
Channel 7 showing the Aussie games and quarters onwards apparently.

There would be a mix of locals and international visitors but it would be mainly locals considering our large multi-cultural population. The attendances have been extraordinary.

Go the Matilda's tonight. A loss means we are out. A draw and we might scrape through. A win and we are through.

I'd happily consider going along to a Socceroos or Matildas match, but wouldn't go near an A-league match. There must be many thousands in a similar boat.

To answer your question, last season's A-league crowd figures are below - the average works out to be 8,000 across all fixtures, from a range between 1,408 (Central Coast v Macarthur) to 34,232 (Sydney v Wanderers).

Tonight will be an amazing clash, everything on the line for both sides - the hosts vs the gold medalists!

I wish I could fast forward the next three hours, I don't want to wait any longer.

And anyone questioning the quality of the women's game has no idea.
Just watch this 1 minute 48 second highlight from last night's Columbia vs Germany match at another sold out Sydney Football stadium. (40 499)
It is the 3rd sold out match at the SFS in 2 weeks. There was another 25000 crowd
And unlike the AFL, there is no falsifying of crowd numbers.

Was at Federation Square (Melbourne) watching the Matildas go down unfortunately.
Place was packed out on a cold night, as well as Suncorp Stadium. Something unheard of happening for a womens world cup game 10yrs back, maybe even 5 years ago

Followed up the disappointment the following night at Marvel Stadium, but enough said of that here.

Got tix to the semi final on the 16/8, be interesting what sort of crowd turns up if Australia don't go through. I suspect wont get anywhere near the capacity. But still be a huge crowd? Hope we dont get to find out, will be on par the womens t20 final in 2020 for atmosphere and attendance if Australia are there
