I think decent behavior should be expected rather than the cops thanking the public for not causing havoc.

It's all about expectations management :)

I'd imagine that 7 arrests out of a 40,000 night time sporting crowd is at the lower end of the scale (unfortunately).

I wonder how many arrests there are at a typical Parra vs Dragons match or a Waratahs vs Brumbies match ?

I'll take a stab at it.

Um... none ?

Depends whether it is a night game (more alcohol drunk), and how full the stadium is (the average Eels v Dragons match recently has been far from packed). I've certainly seen people being arrested for failing to quit at Brumbies / Raiders games and at the cricket (every game I've been to).

Getting evicted at the cricket doesnt end in an arrest. Think of it like getting kicked out of a pub. Unless you really f**k up then you get arrested. 7 is a lot.

7 arrests and 40 evictions is too much for a regular event.

Funny how it's being trumpeted as a good result - yet more special treatment for A-League.

If you refuse to leave when requested by security, or attempt to re-enter, it can end in you being arrested.

Depending on circumstances, there are always a few knobs at any event.

Ironically Baz, 7 arrests and 40 evictions is the worst result ever for a Sydney derby, yet the crowd is described as well behaved. Go figure!.

I actually think its hard to judge behaviour by arrest/eviction figures

If there is some event were merkins are going absolutely f**kin berko then the police are probably just content to disperse the situation and try and get people (themselves included) out of it safe - no arrests

But if things are kinda calm - just some smaller amount of merkin-ness going on, then its probably more likely arrests will be made.

Just my uneducated, poorly backed up opinion

I agree and made a similar suggestion a little while ago. Must admit though, my post appeared much more educated and strongly backed up.

Hahaha. Striders a dumb arse. :D Joking.

There were more cops at the game on Sat night then there has ever been. Maybe that led to the higher numbers of lack of tolerance? I don't know.
I saw no trouble, except for one ESFC douche bag enter the RBB, and immediately was ejected by security. I saw a Wanderers douche bag enter the Cove, and he too, was immediately ejected.
Other than that, and a bit of lip from an ESFC fan while we were walking back to Central, I saw no trouble. I thanked him for his taxes paying for my dole cheque, considering he was calling everyone from the west "cockroaches and dole bludgers".
And they wonder why there is a demographic divide. :?

No they don't.

It even happens in Rugby League mate.
This city is built on demographic divide.
FFS, I was even at a Parra Penrith semi at Pirtek and a chant started up against Panthers fans about ug boots from Parra fans about them.
Don't be so ignorant.

How does stating that people don't wonder why there is a demographic divide, make one ignorant that there is a demongraphic divide?

Read the words first Suity (slowly and carefully), before you wade in with your replies...
