SCG Trust chairman Tony Shepherd described the atmosphere generated by a sell-out crowd as “unlike anything I’ve experienced in sport in Australia”.
But after NSW Police had praised supporters for their behaviour in the aftermath of the game, Shepherd and Trust CEO Jamie Barkley said the fifth consecutive Sydney derby sellout at Allianz Stadium had shown the sport in its best light.

“The A-League crowd brought all of the passion that we come to expect from a Sydney FC-Western Sydney Wanderers derby and none of the negatives,” Shepherd said.
“Mixing with the crowd afterwards, I found the atmosphere vibrant and family friendly as thousands of people enjoyed the afterglow of a thrilling football match.

“The atmosphere is unlike anything I’ve experienced in sport in Australia.”

f**king idiots.

The atmosphere was no different to any other of the 5 sold out Allianz derbies, except there was no flares. Big f**king deal.
Idiots.

Anyone who uses the term "afterglow" to talk about a footy game is a bit airy fairy tbh

Total mincer.

P.S. I could have made a joke about the glow from a flare, but that is cheap and I wouldn't do that to Suity.

There hasn't been 7 arrests at any derby yet mate before Saturday night.
So many of the other derbies have been considered violent and full of thugs and hooligans by the media, despite there being less arrests and ejections.
Yet, the most recent game in the past 4 years with the most arrests and ejections is announced as "well behaved" by police. Why?
You seriously haven't worked it out yet...?

Oh hang on, you have worked it out .

- - - - -

It's really not that hard, but let's spell it out - if RBB smply cut out the flares, detonators, pyro (and general thuggishness) from match day, then the police, the mainstream media and the A-League adminostration will all leave the WSW alone.

But Suity (and I'll take you to be representative of the average non-RBB WSW punter) has spent six months on here trying to stick up for flares and being part of the wonderful 'atmosphere', and deflect any criticism (or policing) of the RBB crew. If this is the general WSW attitude it's no wonder that the "issue" hasn't gone away!

The police, mainstream media and A-League administration are being kind to the WSW by describing 7 derby arrests and 40 evictions as good crowd behaviour, when based on those figure they could have tried to have a fieldday with sensationalist articles etc. The RBB/WSW fans in general now have to meet them half way, and commit to getting rid of the pyro, detonator, flares fetish from any of their remaining home and away games this season - lucky there's a points deduction incentive there in play too.

Only then will soccer start to get sympathetic coverage it seeks (and hopefully will deserve) - once the numbnut RBB pyro fetish boys settle down and realise cracker night only used to come once a year .

So... Timmy Cahill :sarcasm:

A soccerroo legend who should be accomodated in the A-League next season at any cost, or a past-it wanker with sense of entitlement overvaluing his final homecoming contract before retirement?

He's a legend, but his comments regarding A-League marquee players are off the mark imo.

It's nice to be No. 1. Still. Amazing club with amazing success in such a short time.
Haven't heard much from the ESFC turds lately. Funny that.
