We've played a couple of gigs in the court yard of the Surveyor General Inn at Berrima in the Geoff Harvey Band Stand (which is a tiny area under the light pole in the paved area of the court yard). They were/are Saturday arvo gigs that tail off by about 5.30. We would always catch the man himself after the gig sitting in the main bar watching Super Saturday. Not sure what team he followed ( he tended to follow anyone), but he hated Manly with a passion. Hahaha. Lovely bloke, told great stories and was just one of the regulars. Glad to have met him.

Ole python hips Mick Jagger is going in for a heart valve replacement (and possibly a rebore),and had to cancel his current pre Yank tour where $200m tickets sold.
Any wonder ,he has a girlfriend about 30, he's 75.

Geoff Harvey was most definitley a strong supporter of the Eastwood Rugby Union club, having lived at Epping for many years before relocating to the southern highlands. He was a good friend of the father of one of my work mates, who would tune his home piano. He also wrote the club song and here's a shot of him playing it after a game marking the club's 70th anniversary in 2017.

Rowland “Boon” Gould 64 - Level 42 (founder of the band). For those of you that are muso’s, Level 42 were technically very proficient- check the rhythm section of Mark King & Gary Husband. Masterclass of funk bass & drums.

The band also had Alan Murphy (deceased) on guitar. Check out his playing on Go West’s “Don’t Look Down”.

RIP Doris, who also gave us Terry Melcher (her son) legendary 60s record producer who worked with The Byrds, Beach Boys and did his own surf pop stuff with Beach Boy Bruce Johnston under the name Bruce and Terry. Though Terry has been dead for years.
Loved the byrds pre sweet heart of the rodeo.
Gram parsons joined and that was the end for me.
Too country.

I read Crosby’s book - “long time gone” and it mentions Melcher producing some of their early stuff.

I'm okay. I always thought that Doris was a bit of a dork. I mean to say she must of been the last person on the planet to know that Rock was Gay.

But I am concerned about The Poppa's well being. He was well before my time. He was drinking at the Cecil at the same time I was drinking red drinks and eating Smiths Crips under the palm trees in the Park. Mum wasn't allowed in the Hotel back then.

He would be devo over this news.
