Bring him back or these 40 point drubbing every week are going to be a regular thing. Some of you enjoy seeing the team not score more than 18 points a game do you? 3P are in power, and all are big fans of tim, keep the form up son and you will be back in the blue and gold where you belong very soon.

I've just watched some highlights on youtube.

The thought of Timmy at half and KK and 5/8 is gonna keep me up all night now....

the is if statments about every player you buy. Remember Dykes was probably the best 5-8 in the comp when we bout him, only for him to turn out relay bad. Monaghan, Head, Mortimer... all have big if statements on them. Timmy is atleast playing good footy, we may be able to manage his mental state. I would love a combo of;

1. Hayne

6 K. Keating
7 Smith

9 M. Keating

13. Mateo

We would actually look like we have goot strength in important positions, even more pleasing is that the players are all parramatta jnrs

Caylo...your spelling is still really bad...are you doing 'prescription writing course' now with your medical studies?

Did Dykes keep dropping the baton at change over time in the relay???
The Club needs the coach to coach btw, not to be a shrink..
Players need to have pride in their own performance and turn up ready to train and play.
If Tim Smith is the answer, I would hate to think what the question was...
Good games against Celtic Crusaders and Warrington Wolves hardly makes him 'playing good footy'.
A joke I heard once had the answer "c**k Robin" and you had to work out what the question was. It's a bit like "Tim Smith" being the answer...What was the question?

I dunno pete, but he has played better footy in two games then any halfback in our ranks. Oh and yes I make sure i can spell all the drug names... that is all that is important to me Pete. Obviously an english teacher has to be better at spelling

Noble praises Smith performance

Noble guided Wigan into the Super League play-offs last season

Wigan coach Brian Noble praised stand-off Tim Smith after the Warriors' 40-26 win at Wakefield. Australian Smith contributed two fine assists in the seven-try victory.
Noble told BBC Radio Manchester: "The challenge for Tim was showing us the player he can be. He has shown that in the last couple of weeks.
"I've no doubts about what he can do for a team and I think against Wakefield we showed, once we execute properly, we will score points."

Yeah, he'll really help us out - they win by 7 tries and he sets up 2 so all of a sudden he's a messiah?

FFS I hate you guys. Get over him, for your own mental health's sake.

He set up TWO tries out of SEVEN.. FFS just because you love the bloke doesn't make him God himself. We won't automatically boost our attack with him here.

You guys just don't get it..."Oh, with Tim we'll score more points..." Again - 2 from 7. Hardly different than what we got at the moment.

However, at the moment, our young halfback isn't an off-the-rails trainwreck who disobeys orders from his boss and is so inconsistent it's not even funny.

Debatable. Young Keating has been fantastic - he's only been let down by Hayne dropping balls and his backs screwing up. He's been setting up tries, linebreaks and - Tim won't ever do this part - MAKING linebreaks on his own footwork.

Eelementary would you take back timmy on a part time contract, match payment or small contact (70K). Im not asking to base our team around him atm, but would you reject the chance to sign such a talented halfback for that much. He would have to be better than Robson which I would imagine would be on about that

Eelementary Tims kicking and passing game is better than Keating, who has been great for us... but I think we all know that Keating will be a very good 5-8 but am unsure if he is a halfback. Keating has been very very good, im very impressed with his running game. I would never give timmy a walk up start, he has to prove himself yes... but I would not reject him on a small time contract. I would not sign him on 100K plus... but on 50-70K why not.

He is better than Robson, true. But Robson isn't a starting halfback - he's here for depth.

I have two major problems with Tim Smith that a lot of people seemingly disagree with:

(1) he was inconsistent (in his first two years every set in the opposition 20 we'd either get a repeat set or a try pretty much; after that he seemed to forget how to force a repeat set; that, and his skills deteriorated quite dramatically imo after 2006)

(2) his off-field behaviour. Personally, I don't buy the excuse of bi-polar syndrome. Neither does my sister who, for the record, is a raging Eels and Tim Smith fan and a psychologist to boot. I just think he's an alcoholic with a social disorder, pure and simple. I don't think he'll ever get better from it.

Combine the two and he's too much of a risk for mine. Yes, you could put him on a minimum contract and watch him closely but really - he ain't Andrew Johns and is he really worth that much trouble?

I disagree with the kicking part - for the first time in 2 and a half years we have someone who is consistently finding open space with his kicks in Keating.

Look, no doubt a potential halves combination of 6. KK and 7. Smith would be lethal. But I just don't see why we should go so far out of the way for him when, for example, Broderick Wright who always did the right thing and was great for us was let go without hesitation.

It doesn't fit, for me.

1) how many young halfbacks are inconsistant... alot if not most

2) yes I agree, alcoholic... and people change. Has he, I dunno.. is it worth a shot for a last chance contract... well that isn't my choice and im glad of that.

I have no problem bringing timmy as a backup halfback and let him earn his contract and spot. If he wants to come back, he will be willing to work on our terms. One thing I know is that timmy loves the eels and would want to come back here before even considering another club.

I agree... dont go out of your way, but I will bet that timmy will be the one to ask for a second chance not the other way around

I'll tell you right now - I have a lot of experience with alcoholism. Unfortunately it ran rampant through my family (still does, but I'm so tired of it that, sadly, I just don't care any more). And alcoholics RARELY change.

If he has proven he has his head screwed on, and he works hard, then fine - with the right incentives it would probably work.

As for the inconsistency, you're right - most young halfbacks are inconsistent. But my bane with his inconsistency is that his mentality seemingly changed - first two years he showed remarkable maturity and composure to read the game and see whether pushing for a try was a viable option or not. After that he seemed to get too cocky and push too hard for a try, instead of pulling back and getting a repeat set. I can't understand how he would change so dramatically in the space of 18 months or so. Coaching advice? Perhaps...

If we did bring him back, though, he'd be hopeless behind our current forward pack. So right now the focus should be on recruiting a good pack - then we can focus on a halfback imo.

OK, you've convinced me lol.

I just hope that if he does eventually return that, for his sake as well as ours, that his head is right.
