Well according to NRL 360 we wanted him for when his contract was finished and he wanted 2019.

The fact that Paul Kent is a moron and a lying scumbag needs to be taken into account here

It is illegal under Tort law to induce somebody to break a legal and binding contract. Yesterday Pascoe threatens legal action. Almost immediately a story "pops up" with incredible detail about the meeting and adds "it was all Ivans idea".

Coincidence?

If this goes to court it will be Wests Tigers v Cleary. Penrith would not be involved, although they'd be covering Ivan's legals you'd think. The court could order monetary compensation, or they could order that he not work as a RL coach anywhere else for a period of time (not longer than the expiry of the contract) but certainly they would order conciliation between the parties beforehand.

The Tigers, if they really wanted to, could prevent Ivan coaching Penrith. But they cannot force him to coach them if he doesn't want to. And what good would that do them?

I'm waiting for the real story to come out. So much floating around. If it turn out we did do something wrong I'll join the hate train.

Now Panthers fans turn.

The fans wanting Cleary's return, I know some don't.
Why do you want him to return ?Be honest if its all about Nathan.
If its not about Nathan then explain why you think Ivan's return will work this time around when it didn't work last time.
Remember Gould will still be pulling the strings.

Would be a sensible path for all of us. For mine there is a LOT that doesnt make sense and there is a narrow path of facts that I can glean (perhaps cherry pick) through actual statements from peoples mouths that fit.

Pascoe started threatening this action after his chat with Cleary. I would back Pascoes word (and even Cleary's) before I backed Kent or Gould. Truth will come out.

If Ivan just walks, Tigers will sue Cleary (more likely just receive compensation).
If Tigers can gather enough information that the Panthers induces Ivan to leave, I hope the Tigers sue Panthers for the works. Tigers need to stand up.

I'm not mad on him, but it seems The Great Gus wants him, so who an I to argue. It's a stunning backdown by Gus, it must be said.

My comments have basically been to refute claims that the Tigers could somehow force him to stay against his wishes.

big hit!

Pascoe is eyeing $$$

$1m+ pay out straight from Panthers, plus RKG

Well the tigers have paid out a few mill themselves after sacking coaches. A CEO would probably want to claw some of that back.

Re Penrith, and from what we see of Gould in the media, he'd seem to be a f**king difficult bloke to work with

Panthers fans want a real job application process to take place.

Ivan needs to state his side of the story.

So what if, as seems likely, Ivan was one of the current NRL coaches who submitted an application for the position within hours of Griffin's sacking? You must think they are stupid.

Penrith then say, Ivan, we are interested, but you need to get a release. Ivan asks for a release and it is declined. Matter goes to conciliation and then court. How have Penrith induced him to break his contract.? They've asked him to try to negotiate a release following his making an application for a position with them. Very different scenario.

That scenario is very different.

It is also very different to the truth. Both Panthers and Ivan Cleary have both admitted that they had a meeting about Ivan coaching the Panthers two weeks prior to Griffin being sacked. The truth about what was discussed at that meeting would determine if Penrith induced Cleary to break his contract.

You and I dont know the truth, Paul Kent sure as hell doesnt. Ivan Cleary does and Justin Pascoe reacted a certain way after talking to Ivan Cleary. Thats all I can go on.

I thought it was pretty tacky of Gould when he said they had already received 12 applications from other candidates including current first grade coaches.

I'm sure they are smart enough to cover their arses in this. They have legal eagles working for them. They could have been discussing Nathan and his future.
